I concur completely. These are hot and very complex issues, but these moves really appear to politically motivated.

You are right on. Bush would very much like to have the Hispanic vote, but is cautious on amnesty because of his conservative base of support. If our vote is guaranteed because of an opponent like Dean, then he is safe to make moves that might offend us. How do we counter that?

Perhaps it is possible to use the primary season to send a strong signal that conservative votes cannot be taken for granted. I doubt there will be a serious challenge to Bush, but if enough noise was made for an anti-amnesty candidate, it might get through to him.

Any thoughts?
