What part of "this administration has not taken a firm policy position on that" did you not read?I suggest they formulate a coherent policy, otherwise it's nothing less than dereliction of duty.
To: Mo1
What I think is going on, is this administration realizes the problem with the illegals and the problems of deporting and they are trying to figure out how best to handle it all
What's going on is that this Administration's do-nothing, hope-to-get-an-Amnesty policies are the biggest problems we have with regard to Illegal Aliens. This President has neither the will nor the desire to enforce our immigration laws. I've got a boatload of links to posts from Freepers who've assured me Bush would never do an Amnesty. Lotsa folks had to eat their "SCOTUS will fix CFR" words. Second helpings are heating up.

Well, I suppose it's "Felez(?) Navidad" and "Happy Cinco de Mayo!"
Bush won't do anything until after the 2004 after all of the votes have been counted.

Do I like that fact .. No .. but it is reality. I don't either, but even more so I don't like the idea of shoving this issue of "illegals" under the rug.
Before we know it we will be reminiscing of the good 'ol days of Bill and Hillary Clinton. (gasp)

there is no way that we will be able to round everyone of them up and throw them out.Let's start small, throw out 25% and go from there.

This President has neither the will nor the desire to enforce our immigration laws. Tell me Saber
Here is Philly, the Mayor has sent a memo to all city departments that they are not to notify the INS of any illegals .. I have read where other citys have done the same thing
Tell me how in the hell Bush can enforce laws and deport illegals when he can't even get help from the city and local governments
Then let put the ACLU into this mix and how they will tie up the courts till god only knows fighting the government
You make it out like it's real simple .. it is not and you know it
So go right ahead and keep blaming Bush for everything under the sun .. and don't vote for him

Leadership. Commitment. Character. Upholding his oath of office. Then let put the ACLU into this mix and how they will tie up the courts till god only knows fighting the government You make it out like it's real simple .. it is not and you know it
When you said "ACLU," I had to hide under the table. I'm a Republican. So go right ahead and keep blaming Bush for everything under the sun .. and don't vote for him
Actually, I'll vote for him, but I won't excuse every wrong or stupid thing he does because of it.

Leadership. Commitment. Character. Upholding his oath of office. Do you honestly believe he is not a good leader .. do you honestly believe he is not commitment to this country .. do you honestly believe he has no character??

Well be need to stop hiding from the ACLU and out them for what they really are
Actually, I'll vote for him, but I won't excuse every wrong or stupid thing he does because of it.
I never said you had to .. there is nothing wrong with voicing an opinion and letting him know who you feel about an issue .. just as long as one realizes that not everything can be fixed with a snap of the finger

This President has been a poor leader in the area of Illegal Aliens. He swore an oath of office to uphold the laws of our land, and immediately set about finding ways of enabling the Illegals to be rewarded for skirting our laws. Then 9/11 happened, and rather than figure out what needed to be done, he did a whole lot of nothing about Illegals. He wants to Amnesty them. Overall, I'd say this President has good character, but his appeasement policies toward Illegals are a significant flaw. Well be need to stop hiding from the ACLU and out them for what they really are
It was you that suggested that we worry about them, not me. there is nothing wrong with voicing an opinion and letting him know who you feel about an issue .. just as long as one realizes that not everything can be fixed with a snap of the finger
Nor will it be solved with the licking of Karl Rove's.

I'm sure those Haitians don't want to revisit those years either.

"Actually, I'll vote for him, but I won't excuse every wrong or stupid thing he does because of it.At this point in time I doubt I will. I am either voting Constitution party or not voting at all in the Presidental election. Bush either thinks he can't be defeated or doesn't care, in either case he has done more in his term, for the left then any other President in history. Between CFR, Medicare and now illegal alien kowtowing I am pretty pissed off.
And I am by no means in the minority. Maybe if the POS Dean gets elected people will be just pissed enough to take this country back for the people.

What happened to the November 2001 announcement by Ashcroft and Zeigler that the scofflaw database of 300,000 names would henceforth be included in the national FBI-run NCIC database?
If I recall, the intention was that local PD's checking NCIC (as they do every time they run a radio check) would ID and apprehend these 300,000 scofflaws.
Haven't heard one single word of this since the big press conference that day.

I recently had a visit with a childhood friend who is now a lobbyist in DC. His office is directly across the street from the Executive Office Bldg and he authored a book on President Reagan. This guy has insider knowledge and recently had lunch with Rumsfeld. I'm saying all this to give credence to what he told me. Bush is a 'work in progress.' Basically, he has 2 passions: the war on terrorism and getting the hispanic vote. Otherwise, Cheney and Rove are running the executive branch.
