This is what happens when you have no Primary. No one to move President Bush back to the right.

I'm sure the same Bots who defended Bush signing the CFR will defend this outrage, too.

Rush better be careful. He might get banned from FR.

It won't be long before the usual suspects arrive to explain how we all just don't get it. We just have to have faith that "our guys" are only feinting to the left in order to set the Democrats up for the big return to Constitutional conservatism that is coming just as soon as we control 90% of both houses and still have the WH.

Strictly from a security viewpoint, amnesty actually makes sense. Consider that Ridge knows that due to lax borders he is faced with upwards of 12 million illegals. He doesn't know who or where they are. If he did, he still wouldn't have any idea of who was potentially involved in terrorism. [MOST illegals are not involved in terrorism!]

Now, if amnesty is extended we divide the 12 million into two groups [again, consider only the security aspects]: (1) those who provide their identification and (2) those who do not register.

We would presume that the first group is the far larger. There will still be potential terrorists in this group, but at least we have identification information on them. Therefore, they can be profiled and tracked.

The second group, those who do not register, will be much smaller. We still will not know who they are or where they are, but we now are on a different footing. If a person from this group is encountered then there is prima facie evidence that they deserve attention from a security viewpoint.

Thus, the job of internal security is an order of magnitude easier.

Finally, I point out that I am NOT in favor of amnesty for the same reasons cited by Rush. However, I just wanted to point out that it might make good sense from Ridge's viewpoint.

The first time I saw the distinguished Mr. Ridge on TV, he seemed....blank. But, I chalked it up to his not being used to the national spotlight, nervous in front of the camera. Well, now I know he's an idiot. Stuff it, Tommy.

WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?

And what is your and Rush's solution?

I would like to hear concrete proposals.

I recently had a visit with a childhood friend who is now a lobbyist in DC. His office is directly across the street from the Executive Office Bldg and he authored a book on President Reagan. This guy has insider knowledge and recently had lunch with Rumsfeld. I'm saying all this to give credence to what he told me. Bush is a 'work in progress.' Basically, he has 2 passions: the war on terrorism and getting the hispanic vote. Otherwise, Cheney and Rove are running the executive branch.

In responding to the recent White House's TRIAL BALLOON to Conservatives on this one, we need to accompany our organized outcry with such articles as this one from Northern Virginia/D.C. suburbs (this week):

Gangs threat: 'Extreme' By Jon Echtenkamp 12/09/2003

Northern Virginians can expect a rising tide of violent crimes committed by street gangs that have established "a major hub" in this area, as more gang members – possibly numbering in the thousands – may flock here from Central America, according to a recently issued FBI report. The report specifically focuses on the rise of the most notorious of the gangs known to operate in this area, Mara Salvatrucha 13, or MS-13. The gang, with roots in El Salvador and Los Angeles, established a foothold in this region in the early 1990s and has been responsible for untold violent crimes over the years. The FBI estimates that some 3,000 MS-13 members and 30 MS-13 cliques are operating in the Washington, D.C., area, primarily in the prosperous Northern Virginia suburbs. "The greater Washington, D.C., area, and specifically northern Virginia, is now a major hub of MS-13 gang activity," the report says. "Violent crime associated with continued expansion of MS-13 is most predictable." The report serves as a wake-up call, even as federal, state and local law enforcement officials are implementing a broad array of programs to combat the rapid growth of gangs here. In language that is all the more startling because it comes from the FBI, the report notes that MS-13 groups "pose a serious threat in the United States and abroad due to their propensity for extreme random acts of violence and involvement in myriad criminal activities." Those crimes include shootings, rape, armed robberies, theft, car theft, drug dealing, and assaults with bats, knives, machetes or other weapons, the report says.

"Dear Mr. Ridge, Mr. Hutchinson, Mr. Rove: Does your "amnesty" include these thousands of illegal aliens who are no more than domestic terror paramilitaries now, operating in your neighbors' backyards and streets and schoolyards in suburban Washington D.C.?"

"Now that they're in power, they have to do what the people want so they can stay there"????

What's the point of them being in power, if they don't use that power to do what is RIGHT?

One of the 1994 "freshmen", ex-Congressman Dr. Tom Coburn from Iowa has a new book out about the corruption he witnessed while in congress from BOTH parties. It's called "Breach of Trust" and I urge everyone to get a copy.

"Besides, we don't need to have conservative judges on the bench to stop these bad laws. GOP legislators shouldn't have voted for them in the first place, and our GOP president shouldn't have signed them."

Yay Rush!
