"If you love your freedom and your constitution, you'll want to hear the gospel from the most prominent constitutionalist alive today. Justice Antonin Scalia is what's keeping US from entering the abyss of judicial tyranny."
I disagree. We already have judicial tyranny. When Scalia has only one vote, there is little he can do to prevent the Sandra O'Connors and David Souters (both Republican picks)from dragging us down the wrong path.

"At this point, not even armed rebellion is possible."
Are you kidding? We have over 200 million guns in this country, and many able men and women willing, if necessary, to take up arms. If you have doubt about what determined men and women can do against a professional army with the best equipment, look at what is happening in Iraq, where a bunch of uneducated, untrained fools with ancient equipment are making fools out of our military.
Our government is very much aware that the people are armed. Why do you think they are trying to so hard to take our private arms away?

"He is not keeping us from the abyss of judicial tyranny but he is a great justice and we need 4 more just like him. The only chance of that happening is with President George W. Bush and a Republican dominated Senate. We need to impeach some of the other judges and the only chance of that happening is with a conservative and Republican dominated Senate."
Oh, please. The reason why we have this stupid law in the first place is because of some Republicans agreeing with it and GWB signing it. GWB is not a conservative. I'm just now understanding that. Pity I didn't before he got my vote last election. It is not a mistake I will be making again.

"Give it up, my friends. There is no hope of changing this thing working within the system. It's too late for that, and frankly that's been obvious to any objective observer since 1990 and George I's knife to our backs on taxes. What have you gained from all of your efforts these past 12 years? "
Agree 100% with your post. The silence is deafening, isn't it??

I have read the opinions from both sides and found that the one written by O'Conner and Stevens, JJ to have one binding thread; that money is the root of all evil; it is what causes corruption. Take away the money, you take away the corruption. Sounds like the gun control argument: take away the guns and you take away the crime of killing someone.
The seed of corruption is in all of us, but yet we still make moral choices as to whether or not we allow that seed to grow and fester. But who is truly to blame for this corruption outside of the political candidates themselves? We as voters are! We keep electing and reelecting corrupt people to represent us. It's okay to blast a politician from another part of the country for being corrupt; but don't you dare blast my corrupt representive, because he brings the "pork" back to my district.
As voters we have a duty to ourselves to put people in Congress who will not only look out after our best interests but those of the nation as well. A pipe dream? Perhaps. But maybe it's about time that we all start raising our standards a bit higher and not be afraid to do so.

Yes, the silence is deafening.
Most conservatives are like whipped dogs - they go back and lick the hand of the elites because they love them and their love is unconditional. No matter what, they'll support the Pubbies, but they want to be just like them. They have some sick, childish need to be loved by the powerful.
The truth is that many "conservatives" talk a good game about "liberty" and defending the Constitution, but they really want Big Brother.
There's no other way to explain their support of the Pubbies even though they've betrayed everything conservatives purport to stand for.

There's definitely a tiny copper wire holding everything together at the moment, and its being pulled very very thin.

Please God, somehow, give us a few more Scalias on the bench.Amen to that! Imagine a SCOTUS stacked wall-to-wall with justices of Scalia's ilk and caliber. The peace of mind that that would bring would be wonderful. As it is now, my knowledge of the present Court's composition and the sorts of decisions it is capable of weighs on my mind even when I'm not thinking about it.

Bravo NINO! Some think campaign money reflects success, acceptance. Others think it buys influence with candidates. But none of our electorate are forced to vote for the candidate with the most money. And, whether or not money represents freedom of expression, the control of freedom of expression in the Campaign Finance Law is a further breack of the first Amendment, and Justice Scalia is one of the few remaining voices against the moral/constitutional relevance tide. Bravo NINO!

The reason why we have this stupid law in the first place is because of some Republicans agreeing with it and GWB signing it.That is certainly one reason. There is a valid point of view about campaigns and money but this country is dysfunctional when the SC finds porn in the 1st Amendment but bans political and religious speech.
GWB is not a conservative. I'm just now understanding that. Pity I didn't before he got my vote last election. It is not a mistake I will be making again.
There are very few pure conservative leaders because there are not enough conservative voters that they can win elections except in House districts. The Senators and Presidents tend to moderate somewhat. I don't agree with several of Bush's decisions but the alternative is Gore/Clinton/Dean/Clark.
Bush angers me too but I can't see surrendering the country to the DemocratTraitors during a war. I want Bush to follow his base. He apparently has other ideas ... like giving the palestinians a state as a reward for terrorism.
