2020 Vision by Lauren Popper
I believe that in 2020, the United States could be a leader in a global movement of respect, value and morality. Or it could veer off the path once shown to us by our nations founders and, instead, chart a course only toward further self-interest, self-promotion, and ultimately the hatred of other countries and the destruction of the beautiful planet we inhabit.
In 2003, America seems relatively uninterested in the impending decimation of the Earths natural resources. We are somewhat attentive to the potential of solar, wind, hydrogen, and hydro-electric power, but we are not firmly committed to any of them. We are vaguely aware of the possible dangers of cloning, hormone injections, and mass food production, but we are not firmly committed, as a nation, to prevent these technological innovations from overwhelming nature both our natural lands, and our natural bodies. We realize that to preserve our planet, everyone must work together, but we arent doing it, and we must.
In 2003, we sent our troops abroad. They arrived supposedly to share American values and to help citizens of other countries to live a better life. But I believe they also arrived without being fully informed of their mission, without fully understanding the countries they entered and without the full support of the citizens they may be trying to help. Interactions with hostile governments can never be ideal. But America must approach the world with an attitude of cooperation, respect, and pursuit of common goals. We must have a proper and truthful dialogue within our country about what goes on abroad. Many citizens realize that to prevent conflict, war and hatred, America must consider the lives of residents of every country and must honor world opinion. While we may not agree, we at least have to listen.

This is a column written for a dem website by the Lauren Popper mentioned in a recent NYT column and Coulter's most recent column.
She talks a lot about what every American must do, and it's an interesting insight into the mind of a rabid Dean supporter (and Yale theater graduate).
I thought folks would like to see this.

She uses the words "every" and "must" a lot, which is kind of scary to me. A world view where every American must respect every one and every thing and every thought is frightening. I wonder if she would "care, respect, value" my ideas?
"Some may say this vision can never be realized by government."
I just can't get my head around this kind of thinking. Maybe I don't "feel the importance of my own life." I must work on that.

She apparently left her job in New York to go work on the Dean campaign. Her job: doing comedy in NYC. She just doesn't sound that funny to me.

Egad. Getting crunchier with every year.
I'd say she's eminently qualified for a position with the Martin Sheen administration -- the one in Fantasyland.

I feel that every American must respect and value the importance and worth of her inner beauty. Ya'll aren't creating the kind of supportive and inspiring environment that every American must create for Ms. Popper.
I wonder if she realizes the language she uses is totalitarian: "Ve MUST inspire and support EVERY culture and exterminate all ze Republicans. Only then vill ve have ze ideals EVERY American MUST carry in their heart."
