As far as I can tell, if someone does one thing deemed non-conservative, with these people they are henceforth defined as liberal, no different than the Democrats etc. He has not on balance been more like a moderate than a conservative. There's two things everyone is citing - big spending, which is due in part to Iraq/terrorism, and CFR. It's not as though supporting the prescription drug benefit was some kind of reversal for Bush either (which some people seem to interpret it as). He campaigned on it. If he had a different record on those things, most of these 10 year olds would be citing something else as their basis for saying he's a liberal. Tax cuts, partial birth abortion ban, opposing Kyoto, reversing Clinton era EPA's excessive actions, missile defense, arguing against U. of Michigan's affirmative action scheme before the SC, war on terror, conservative judge appointments etc. are all conservative.
IMO if Dean or some other Dem wins and we get attacked again, most of these geniuses would immediately proclaim that it would have happened if Bush had won too.
