A good thing to do is to photocopy your receipts after Christmas, and make copies for everyone on the Grinch list.
Today I was at Ballston Mall in Arlington, Virgnina. The Mall has two Hecht's stores on either end of the mall: the traditional department store and a newer furniture gallery store. At the entrance to each of them were large signs on portable stands. All the signs had the same message: "Christmas Holiday Sale: 20% to 50% off."
This is the first sign anywhere in a Hecht's store this season on which I've seen printed the word 'Christmas.' Further, it is prominently placed. Is this a breakthrough? Could it be that the Grinch List is having an effect? After all, Hecht's is on the list. For whatever reason, it's a good 'sign' -- pun intended.
