The Pentagon on Wednesday delayed the issue of $18.6 billion in U.S. tenders to rebuild Iraq amid criticism over the exclusion from bidding of firms from France, Germany, Russia and other war opponents. The prime contracts were set to be advertised last Friday, but were delayed while 'high-level' policy decisions took place.
I think they call this an operational pause. (wink wink)

I like how she puts things. Pulls no punches.
Thanks, Darlin'.

I agree with Tammy on this one. I see no reason to reward the countries that opposed us.

France, Germany and other countries too self-absorbed, politically inept and globally backward... Thaks for posting! I'm saving the article so I can forward it - especially the above excerpt - to some of my snobbish, leftist, friends who moved to Europe.

Anybody got a link to the Pentagon for an "encouraging" response?

Ahhh...communist nations of a feather clog together in a fit of unhappiness.
Maybe the weasels should form a jihad.

It doesnt surprise me that countries like France and Germany dont understand the concepts or loyalty, compassion, courage and commitment. Instead, they behave like the Great Entitledthose who believe, simply because of their own absurd vision of themselves that they deserve what they want, and they want everything. Forget about having to work for it. Forget about standing by your allies. The more I read the more gems I find! Can't wait to hear from my Euro-friends after i send this to 'em! WOO-HOO!

The socialists of Old Europe want the added tax revenue these contracts would generate for their companies. Think about it! France is demanding that highly regulated and heavily taxed French companies get a piece of the reconstruction pie. In another words, they think millions of US tax dollars should wind up in the hands of the French government.

Old Europe is demanding the WTO look at the barring of their companies from Iraqi reconstruction bids, to see if the WTO will "allow' us to do this. On top of the WTO ruling stating that certain US tax breaks are illegal, it is obvious that the EU is targeting not only US tax laws (do a google search or an FR search on OECD; they think it is unfair for any country to have lower tax levels than the EU average) but our very sovereignty. Not that that's news to anyone who has watch the whole UN-ICC-Kyoto debacle the last few years. But wouldn't it be great if GWB was planning to use the outrage when the WTO predictably rules in the EU's favor to get us out of at least one antiAmerican "global governance" organ-the WTO?

Exactly!

Then after this we leave the UN cancel any debt to that group and ship that mess off to "Old Europe" where it belongs.
To: kattracks
Funny thing is if they'd just kept their foul comments in check and merely stated they supported us, they would have gotten the contracts and reaped their rewards tenfold.
