Our goal, after all, is to raise as much money as we can, so we can help as many people as possible.

Osama bin Laden says put him down for $20 mil. After all, nobody cares where the charity money comes from or what other aims the givers may have. < /sarcasm>

But replacing Give-A-Christmas with Holiday Fund - a change we implemented last year - wasn't done to minimize the importance of Christianity's most celebrated and joyous holiday.

Sure it wasn't. I mean, what does Christ have to do with Christmas anyway? It's just a "holiday" to people like you.

I wish I took that rag of a paper just so I could have the satisfaction of cancelling it tomorrow.

It was a practical decision, not one driven by political correctness or any other ideology, as many of our letter-writing critics have charged. Nor was our intention to water down or in any way neutralize Christmas.

B.S.

Forget this "fund."
Give to the Salvation Army instead.

We recognize and accept the monumental impact Jesus Christ had and continues to have on the world.

But let's not revere him as anything special.
After all, Muhammad is just as important to our modern world, isn't he?
Calling it Christmas is so old-fashioned, so Twentieth Century.
We need to be more inclusive.

Our intention was to maximize inclusion

There's that word again.

Because we meant no harm or disrespect. We really didn't.

What hollow, miserable, wretched human beings.

They did this because "non-christians are among the fastest growing demographic groups."

Therefore, we are to assume that because last year there was only 1 Hindu in their county and now there are 5 Hindus in their county that end-of-December charity drives need renaming so as not to offend that great, traditional end-of-December Hindu holiday of _______________?

No matter that 95% of their population does celebrate a traditional end-of-December holiday known as Christmas.

I think they're lying and spinning.

I'd quit contributin and I'd quit buying their rag.

...Our intention was to maximize inclusion....

So first we had to exclude that icky "majority" stuff. Not diverse enough to be included in inclusion, you see.

Lord love a duck, what will they do next? This column is an absolute gem of Newspeak. It's hundreds of words insisting that they didn't do what they did, and, "who are you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?"

d.o.l.

Our view: We didn't drop Give-A-Christmas in favor of Holiday Fund in a politically correct effort to minimize religion. We changed in recognition of changing demographics and to broaden the fund's appeal.

They not only changed the name for politically correct reasons, they use politically-correct language to justify their PC decision!

"We get it. We really do. We understand why some folks are upset about the name change for our annual fund drive. We've read all the letters - and we sympathize."

Save your sympathy for that empty holiday fund account.

Just as long as they call Ramadan..."fatten up" day or Pigs day....

just as long as they disrespect all religions as they do the Christian religion...

our country was built on Christian principles, and I am glad we have so many other religious that have contributed, but we were the first ..

and for that, they destroy our religious beliefs...

Newspapers are a dying medium and here's wishing this liberal rag dies sooner rather than later. I hope they lose a large chunk of their subscribers over this one...
