[history]
John Sherffius, whose cartoons you have seen on this page for the past five years, has resigned from the Post-Dispatch. Until we complete a search for his replacement, we will use a variety of syndicated cartoons on the editorial page.

When this was reported on KMOX this morning abother tidbit was included. Apparently -- and if you read the STLP-D you'll HAVE to laugh over this one! -- Sherffius was too LIBERAL for the paper!!!! Yesterday, apparently, his cartoon was of a bunch of elephants drinking and generally partying their brains out with the caption "The Party of Fiscal Responsibility." The paper made him add one donkey to the scene, which, according to KMOX, was "the last straw." Too funny! Is the Post trying to pretend NOT to be liberal? What gives??

Maybe they're not so great, but certainly better than the position the PD is coming from.

Marketing gives.
Why shoot for less than half of the potential readership?

yawn ... the reliably anti-GOP ben sargeant (ofthe Austin American statesman) had the same kind of cartoon. how unoriginal. Ben's a guy who if the GOP votes against the huge increase in the welfare state will have some hapless impoverished person being dissed by a 300 pound person with an elephant trunk. He is so boring and so predictable. Ashcroft the puritan, GWB the 'what me worry' kid, and republicans=evil-terrorists... And so it goes.
If this guy is on that level, St Louis isnt missing much. Post some of his art, so we can decide!

Did this liberal ever draw a grave for the unborn killed by abortion? Can he cite a single instance of a woman killed because this procedure was made illegal? what's her name?

Too liberal for the Post-Dispatch?
Is that possible?
To: StarCMC
It must be hell to be a liberal cartoonist looking for work. All the competition is also liberal.

I dropped my Post subscription about 20 years ago when they decided that the constitution and the equal protection clause meant nothing when it came to affirmative action. The Post-Disgrace is on the far left of every issue so there has to be a bit more to the Sheriffus story. Not holding my breath awaiting the P-D expose of that story.
To: smith288
Thanks for the sample, so I have an idea what this cartoonist was/is about. Looks like the guy could draw but he apparently had little use for linear thought. (LOL, even my third-grader understands that when a baby is all born except for the top of its head, popping the baby out alive, rather than murdering the baby in gruesome fashion while the top of the his/her head is still in the birth canal, has zero, zilch, nada effect on the "health of the mother".)
Anyway, it's nice the guy is gone, but he was obviously out of his depth anyway.
Maybe he should turn to a cartoon strip, or paint on the sidewalk or something.
To: facedown

I'm sure he was outraged when Clinton did the same thing only the cigar smoking special interest groups would be Chinese Commies.
I know he had a similar cartoon, right?

Well, he couldn't do that and be a consistent liar, because Republican contributions come in small amounts from many people, while the Rat contributions come in enormous chunks from fat cats and unions.

Something is going on at the Post-Disgrace. They just had a big drive for subsciptions and probably got an earful from the local citizens and advertisers about their left-wing views. So maybe they figured Sherffius was going to far.
As would be expected, I have nothing good to say about Sherffius or the Post.
