It ridiculous to give up our country

Give up our county to who? A bunch of impoverished peons? What a hoot!

These people pose no more a threat that did the Irish, Italian or German immigrants of times gone by. A bit of research will show that the same things being written and said about the Mexicans was said about these earlier groups. Were those disparaging comments made about the micks, wops and krauts wrong?

Some of those earlier groups came before we established the giant welfare state --- and if they didn't make it --- they went back home. You forget that a third of the European immigrants returned home in a short time --- and that was during the Industrial Revolution when there were all kinds of low-skilled jobs that would raise someone up to middle class status.

Immigration levels should be tied in with combined welfare rates and unemployment rates. If 10% of the population in a region is receiving food stamps, then no immigrants are needed.

1.There is a huge difference between immigrants from across the sea and those across a river.
Migration is often a form of conquest. How do you think that the US gained Texas and later 1/2 of Mexico!

2. The foreigners did change this country and not all for the better. They brough socialism, communism, and trade unionism.
3. We effectively alternated between open borders and closed borders for a generation at a time. We would allow a wave in and then restrict immigration. This allowed for assimilation. We have allowed a high level of immigration for 38 years. Time to follow our history and heritage and restrict immigration for a generation.
