Frankly a law or series of laws regulating political reporting in the (at the moment) unfettered media seems to me to follow logically from this ruling. If media outlets engage in overt campaigining for a favored party, issue or candidate an argument based on "equal time" and "fairness" could certainly be made at which point laws dictating how the media must report on elections could easily be drafted, passed and ruled proper.

And of course with the internet taking on more and more importance in the political arena it will be necessary to rein in sites like this one.

What recourse do we have when the congress, president and courts all work to subvert the Constitution?

The answer is: none. Because most Americans either don't know or don't care.

The dissenters were Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy and Clarence Thomas.

Which meant the extreme leftys along with Sandra Day O'Connor voted for it.

O'Connor, Souter really are incredible disappointments, to put it mildly.I knew Souter was a flake from day one, but O'Connor is just about as bad.

Bush signed CFR because he and Rove thought that it would get him more votes. He didn't stand on principle for 1 second. Had he done so, and explained why to the sheeple, he'd have gotten more votes and we'd have a better country than we now do.

I imagine that the Founding Fathers are no longer turning over in their graves, but are now rotating at several thousand RPM.

My comments were directed to someone who wanted to throw out the SC.

But since you asked about replacements - If we had gridlock this never would have gone into law. So replace them with challengers. Start with Toomey to replace Specter. If the challengers screw up like present incumbents, then throw them out too. Ad infinitum.
