No one knows what string Howard Dean pulled to get Al Gore to endorse him,

Maybe Chairman of the DNC which Dean could deliver if nominated.

The neat thing about DNC chairmen, is that Gore can't do any worse than McAwful has already. it's like being the new head coach for The NY Giants next year.

" Maybe Chairman of the DNC which Dean could deliver if nominated."

Excellent analysis, Mike. That way he actually gets something that his to his benifit right away, gets rid of McAuliff, put's him in a position where he can lay broadside after broadside on his arch nemisis the Clintons, and gives him the requisite visibility for a run in 2008 if Dean loses.

Furthermore, when and if Dean loses, he'll still be there and has the stature amoung Democrats to keep the Clintons from retaking the party machine.

Makes you think Gore's not so stupid after all.
