Fox News may be our MAJOR hope in the media.....or else, like someone else said, we start a newspaper that competes with the NYSLIMES....et al.

I think you're onto something here. After reading about 200 of the posted replies, the consensus seems to be that we are in danger of not getting out an opposing political message to counter what the MainStreamMedia puts out there, especially during election time. Recently we have been making gains in this battle through the Internet, FOX news, talk radio and various newspaper outlets. I think that some focus needs to be put on marketing these outlets much more aggressively to let the masses know that there are alternatives to the constant message they receive from the MainStreamMedia.

For me personally, it was all of the facts that I never heard of or read about that turned me on to conservative news media sources.

Bingo.

If people are so afraid of the media monopoly, why do they simply cower in fear instead of turning it to their advantage or doing something about it?

The more friendly media outlets there are, the more the power of the New York Times, the Los Angeles Time, and ABC, CBS, and NBC is lessened.

The logical consequence of this ruling is:

1) The television people will bring on critics of Republicans, those criticised will be unable to respond unless invited on the programs, leading to an unfair advantage for Democrats.

2) Since it will obviously be unfair for the Republicans, being the television and newspapers are controlled by the opposition, the "Fairness Doctrine" will be called for by the Republicans, restricting free speech on talk radio. Yep, Rush will have to have AlGore sitting beside him from noon to three, Savage will have to put up with Ellen Degenerate...........

Sound outlandish? Seems as logical as B following A to me.

you will never be able to "start a newspaper" that has the effect of the NYT. The media uses the NYT as its textbook for what to put on the new every night. Even if no one except the CBS/NBC/ABC/CNN producers read the NYT, and your new newspaper had 1 million readers, the NYT would be more powerful then your paper. Bernard Goldberg describes this perectly in his books.

Most swing voters make their decisions within 60 days of the election, and these ads are a big way these people get information. Those same people won't be watching the NRA cable news network, they will be tuning in to the networks and reading the papers, and without ads, only the liberal bias remains.

Big media now controls the fate of elections in this country, we were making progress taking that power away from them sloely but surely, now they have it all back.
