I guess I really do now live in Amerika (spelled correctly). :(((((

Yet another "the sky is falling" poster joins this thread. Nice...

Well...

I do find it a little interesting how a statement of lament becomes "the sky is falling."

No, I do not believe the sky is falling.

That said, I would be less than forthright if I said I was happy about this ruling. Do I believe that is places far too much power in the hands of the leftist media - yes, I believe that; they will be the only one's allowed political speech in the last 60 days. It remains to be seen whether organizations such as FR will be in the allowed or proscribed categories - one of the interesting things yet to be determined. I have some foreboding about that (hence my Amerika remark), but the Nation has gone through worse (we survived eight years with the 42nd president, went through World War II, and other extremely serious threats to our regime).

I infer from "the sky is falling" that all is lost. No, it isn't. The country is a bit off track (well, maybe more than a bit), and I believe the Supreme Court is incorrect in how it weighed the First Amendment against the right of Congress to determine the manner of elections--but the fact that I can still say these things and not be sent to the gulag (I am hopeful that will not be the case in my lifetime and I expect to live a good many years yet) means there is hope.

Is it Amerika - yes, I think it is, insofar as the socialists and leftists that don't necessarily have the rights of individuals in their best interests at heart are in charge.

Can it be fixed? Yes, but it will take a lot of work. I am sure I don't have the quote quite right, but evil exists where good men do nothing. There are a lot of good men still in the country - and America can (and I remain optomistic, maybe incurably - who knows?) be brough back.

No, the sky indeed remains where it has always been. Above all, and common to all. God's beacon to everyone who cares to look - equal to everyone. As should be the Nation.

May God bless America, and help the free and righteous of her people in their time of turmoil.

[Sorry for filibustering, but you got me going! :)]
