TITUSVILLE, Florida (AP) -- A woman on her morning jog was killed Tuesday after being crushed by a 40-foot magnolia tree that fell on her.
Amber Farrell, 27, was about 25 feet from the tree on a residential street when it fell and struck her from behind, trapping her under its 2-foot-thick trunk, said police spokesman Todd Hutchinson.

Bad luck. Who says that jogging is healthy for you?

Just damn! She must have been a pretty lousy jogger if she couldn't even outrun a tree.

I am sure I once read that more loggers are killed by falling limbs than falling trees.
Whatever she was an extraordinarily unlucky person. It reminds me of the old Bible verse about "eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die".
We are all just seconds away from potential death all the time.

wow. when it's your time, it's your time, I suppose. Sort of like the fellow who escaped the Twin Towers only to die in the Ferry accident.

Bad luck -- and headphones I'd guess.
If it happened to me I think I'd want to have some good tunes.

Big time.

That name "Amber Farrell" sure does sound familiar to me although I can't quite place where I have heard it before.

For those that don't know magnolia trees break fairly easy.

I wonder if it was windy? That would make it hard to hear.

It reminds me of the old Bible verse about "eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die". The Bible of Ray Bradbury perhaps. This is a Klingon saying from Star Trek NG. At least that's where I've heard it. :)

"Therefore in that day the Lord GOD of hosts called {you} to weeping, to wailing, To shaving the head and to wearing sackcloth. Instead, there is gaiety and gladness, Killing of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, Eating of meat and drinking of wine. Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die. 14 But the LORD of hosts revealed Himself to me, "Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you Until you die," says the Lord GOD of hosts."

Falling limbs are called "widow makers" I guess the same would hold true of entire trees.

Yep - headphones. Bad business while jogging. Some genuis was even jogging the runway at local muni airport while wearing 'phones. GAR time.
To: Pyro7480
I think similar phrases are found in several places in the Bible.

Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we may die. :) I love FR. Slightly different, with the word "may". The Star Trek episode with Worf returning to the Klingon homeworld to fight in an internal conflict used a similar wording, but left out the word may. (I think)
To: The_Victor
Yeah, I remember that episode. Any episode of Star Trek with the Klingons in it is usually a good one.
