FROM the moment John Allen Muhammad and Lee Malvo were arrested in the Beltway-area sniper case last fall, the media and Muslim activists wanted us to believe that the serial killings had absolutely nothing to do with Islamic terrorism: * CNN downplayed Muhammad's religious conversion - calling him by his old name, John Allen Williams, when his identity was first revealed. Malvo was cast as a clueless dupe with no true convictions.

John Allen Muhammad and Lee Malvo were looking for the same kind of notoriety, and support of the Islamofascists' cause, by making people fearful of what the maverick and quasi-independent jihadist may do, unexpectedly and with no apparent provocation. Surrender and placate the irrational men with guns, and maybe no harm will come to you. Or not very much.
Translation: This guy wasn't one of ours. We didn't authorize or fund this one. He was waging holy war for Islam without our approval. Please. The guys are black, can't we concentrate on that instead of the connection with Islam? Really. We are a religion of peace. Except for the Jihadis that we are supporting, of course, but these guys were freelancers. And they were black. Black guys with guns... woooooo, scary stuff, huh?
Islam had nothing to do with it.
