the oft repeated Dem contention that Gore had more votes than Bush. It simply isn't true. I am surprised that even some Freepers buy into this nonsense.

Please read my post again. It was not my contention that Gore got more votes than Bush. It WAS my contention that, had the SCOFLA decision been allowed to stand, Gore would have ended up the winner. (Because enough votes for him would have been "found" by eager vote counters.)

I took issue with your comments concerning Andrea Mitchell's statement, i.e., "but in a way, what she said is accurate." SCOTUS never denied Gore the election. He didn't have more votes than Bush. The rest is supposition about a contrived outcome, which will always be the subject of conjecture. Mitchell's statement was political commentary and in no way accurate.
