I know this isn't Biblical, necessarily, but I think of Jesus as interceding on my behalf, not only because of his love for me, but also because he was human. And I imagine him speaking to his father, the Lord, and saying, "Well, Dad, you see she meant well, and she did apologize and she is trying harder and she does seek your forgiveness..." etc.

This is just a mental image I have, and I know it is not found in the Bible.
