L.A. Riots Convict Sentenced in Murder Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - A man convicted of felony mayhem for a televised attack on trucker Reginald Denny during the 1992 Los Angeles riots has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for a drug dealer's murder.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Curtis B. Rappe also ordered Damian Williams, 30, to serve an additional 21 years in prison for a firearm theft charge and other violations.

Williams served four years of a 10-year term after he was convicted for throwing a brick at Denny's head as the riots began on April 29, 1992. Denny was pulled from his tractor-trailer a short time after a state jury acquitted four white Los Angeles police officers accused of beating black motorist Rodney King.

Williams denied he was the person caught on videotape attacking Denny.

He didn't comment during the sentencing hearing Friday.

Too bad he beat the attempted murder charge in the Denny case.

Last I heard, Rodney was in rehab after being arrested for possession of PCP (some people just don't learn).  It would be the ultimate of ironies if Rodney and Football were cell mates.

I was thinking along the same lines. Maybe he would still have been in jail and someone would still be alive.

The man was deprived of midnight basketball games ---his Restless Leg Syndrome was probably killing him...somehow, deep down, I'm convinced the President of the United States is to blame...

Williams served four years of a 10-year term

If he had served the full ten years, he would not have been able to commit this murder (in 2000).
