Drinking alcohol, smoking tobacco, using "recreational" drugs, and overeating also lead to severe health risks. By the same arguments as in the article, these should also be prohibited.

The difference is that NO ONE in a position of power would dare teach children that there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those behaviors.

Americans are being warned against their use. Yes, these things are also to be shunned by the wise. They all have dire consequences.
Homosexuality should suffer the same fate. Instead, the pro-death crowd not only endorses this vile dysfunctional fetish as "beautiful" or "normal", but they teach it to the young children. That's just plain sick! It's like teaching young children to use needles in their arms.

They are prohibited, regulated, taxed and highly discouraged.

PSA's every few minutes discourage smoking and drinking.

And as Rush and Ozzie can attest recreational drugs are illegal.

You need to add high calorie soft drinks, Oreos and fast food in an attempt to make your argument.

Oh yeah they are also highly regulated!

As society must bear the huge costs of ones "recreational activities" it does exert influence over those activities.

ie motorcycles and helmet laws is one such example.

Drinking alcohol, smoking tobacco, using "recreational" drugs, and overeating also lead to severe health risks.

People keep using this lame argument.

A. Millions of people smoke tobacco with little ill effects - either they smoke moderately, or quit, or have good lungs to begin with. Same thing with drinking - a lot of people use alcohol responsibly. Over eating cannot be compared to anal sex - as though some kind of anal sex is not overdoing it?

B. Compare the millions of people who overindulge in eating, or drinking. Now compare the perhaps 2% of the population who are homosexual. Now compare the percentages of sickness among those vastly different numbers.

C. Even "recreational drugs" have vastly different health effects - how on earth can you compare smoking weed to anal sex - especially promiscuous style, which most homosexuals indulge in?? I guess a heavy meth user could compare to a homosexual. But is that a reason to normalize either activity? Because they both either kill you or shorten your life? Or best case scenario just cause horrible health problems that you live with?

There is a further difference in that these things can, for the most part, be done in moderation without substantial adverse consequences. The same cannot be said for homosexual activities. Just one gay encounter can cause any or all of the harmful effects listed. It's a matter of degree of danger IMHO. And let's not forget that innocent people, like spouses and girlfriends of bisexuals, are also put at risk by these activities.
