Help!
One of my co-worker's has a brother who is an MP & presently stationed in Germany; he is being re-deployed in Feb. to the sand pile.
My co-worker want to buy his brother an in-expensive 35mm camera for him to take with, but he wonders which make/model can take the beating & still function.
QUESTION: do any of you have any sources as to what our Troops are using? What works best?

Pentax K1000. SLR tough as nails reasonable price. No auto electronics to goof up. Mine has been everywhere over the last 30 something years and never misses a beat. I keep it as my back up and have many lenses.

Can he go digital instead?? Smaller cards would be easier to mail home and carry around than rolls of film. They are also more durable as opposed to film which can be temperature sensitive. That's what all the guys in my bro's unit have. BTW - our pastor's son is a Marine at 29 Palms and is preparing to deploy to Iraq in Feb. :o)
