Gore doesn't want Dean to win. He wants Dean to be nominated, and lose, and then he wants to pick up all of Dean's supporters and put it in a slightly more moderate package. This is Nixon's 1964 - 1968 playbook, run with absolute fidelity.
Hillary, of course, is already well along in running the RFK playbook -- moving up to New York to become a Senator, passing on the "1964" race, and positioning herself to be a resumption of the dynasty.

Yeah, but Deans supporters are the kind of people that voted for Nader instead of Gore last time. What makes you think that they'll like him more now?
And for that matter, how would Gore's endorsement help Dean with his own super liberal supporters? They don't want a party insider, and they probably don't care for Gore in the least.

Which makes me question if this move by Gore would be part of Hillary's plan. After all, she's plowing the field for her own run in 2008.
Bad month for Hillary!....first Thanksgiving and now this!
