Zell Miller, the brave independent-minded Democrat from Georgia, described Dean as hailing from the "whining" wing of the Democrat party. Have you heard Dean propose policy? No, all he does is complain. That's not leadership. Now think about Al Gore. All Gore did was whine about the "powerful" (by which he meant the "middle class) and how they were indifferent to the poor, etc. Gore ran a campaign of whining, not solutions, and lost. Clinton chewed Gore out on the day of Bush's inauguration for not running on the achievements of the 90's. I'm fine with Gore endorsing Dean. We will not get a campaign of ideas from them. We will get more whining. And we'll win again.

What's the possibility Hillary could be on the ticket with him? Slim I think. On DU they're speculating Clark would be VP. They think they have a winning nominee now!

Or we'll know that she got a clue and tried to get out in front of the parade.

Didn't Hillary! have her chance to get out in front of the parade on this one yesterday when she was all over the Sunday talk shows playing down (snicker, laugh, wink) her own candidacy?

I wish I could get a handle on what's going on here---other than Dean being set up for losing the general election.

I wouldn't go as so far to say this is a "blockbuster endorsement", like CNNMSNBCFOX are calling it. Dean hasn't even been endorsed by a single Democratic Gvernor yet. Bush had endorsements from Governors all over the place in 2000.

OK, here's my pathetically uninformed take on this: A still-pouting Gore is giving the finger to the Clintons for their lukewarm support of his 2000 campaign. Anybody else on board with this theory?

If Dean makes a race outta this--which I sincerely doubt--he'll become a major obstacle fer the HildaBeast and her hubby to overcome between now and 2008.

Dean doesn't have to make a race out of it versus Bush. Simply by winning the nomination, he'll be able to clean house at the DNC and put a serious dent in what remains of the Clintonista power structure.

Time to warm up those WACO files for this summer!

Gen. Clark will have a fine time debating that one..

Are they all excited over a Dean/Clark ticket?

I'll fire up the VCR for the Cheney/Clark debate...and replay often!

Dean isn't electable but he is the only one who is, uh, nominable.

I agree with you. (I omitted if Dean loses from my post.) At first blush though I see this as move by Gore to pay back the Clinton-McAuliffe power structure that he believed made it impossible for him to run again. (Remember how all of the big donors supposedly zipped up their purses when he came calling about 2004?)

Al Gore is clever enough to know Dean won't win in 2004.

This I don't know. Al Gore needed a half dozen consultants to figure out what color suit to wear. I don't think he has much in the way of political intuition. He does have lots of anger over 2000 though. Dean lets him vent that with his hate-Bush rhetoric and there is the added bonus of the anti-Clinton/McAuliffe candidate. Al just couldn't resist.

If I were Dean, I wouldn't want a Clinton creature like Clark on my ticket. Too much of a temptation to the goons to commit an Arkancide on me.

Goes still more for Hillary, of course.

Yes, but when Dean loses in '04 does he remain the presumed head Dem? No. Hill will depose him after he loses.

If I remember correctly, Al Gore didn't want Bill and Hill on the campaign trail with him. Now for the devils advocate, Al Gore didn't even bother to mention the so called "Eight Great Years Of The Clinton Administration" on the campaign trail.

True, but one can only hope!

Who do you think would be Dean's co-runner? I'm thinking not many Washington types would want to play #2 to this guy. But who knows?

Gore didn't because he couldn't. Gore must be mighty upset that he paid part of the price for the Clintoon's "legacy".
