KABUL, Afghanistan -- The U.S. military is trying to strike back in a big way against insurgents in Afghanistan.
The military is planning to conduct its biggest-ever operation in Afghanistan against Taliban remnants and al-Qaida fighters. The offensive will mobilize thousands of soldiers in the most dangerous parts of the country.
Four battalions totaling about 2,000 soldiers are to take part in the operation, dubbed "Avalanche," in southern and eastern Afghanistan, a military spokesman said.
The region has seen increased violence against aid workers, U.S. soldiers and Afghan government officials.
The spokesman indicates soldiers will operate in secret and that the enemy won't know when they might strike. He didn't give details.

Maybe a little strategery, me thinks. Didn't I read in Newsweek where OBL supposedly sent his best fighters to Iraq recently? I think there is a whole lotta psyops going on here.

Thank you......but I should have given the obvious credit to the comedy classic.........Airplane! :) Always got a kick out of that scene..............
"Every innocent who is killed has brothers, uncles, sisters and nephews - and behind them the tribe," said Sadokhan Ambarkhil, deputy governor of Paktika, one of the most dangerous provinces for coalition troops and their Afghan allies. "If 10 people are killed, how many people are saddened?"
Well, I guess the answer is to turn to a group that would re-install a brutal theocracy(we just ended that a year or so ago, ass!) and a global terrorist organization dedicated to murdering civilians.
Sometimes I wonder, are people that stupid? Am I supposed to believe that Muslims are so unbalanced that any shame, disappointment or loss will drive them right into the arms of evil men? What's the point of tip-toeing around these people?
Guess France and other countries liberated by the Allies in WW II "turned" to the Nazis and Japanese because we hit some civilians.
When did this entire world become so pussified?

I was told that the Marines are going into Iraq (or maybe I misheard and it is Afghanistan?) soon. Could this be correct? The U.S. is absolutely fed up and wants the blood of the troublemakers and terrorists. Administrator: please delete this post if appropriate.
