Wow! MoveOn.Gripe has mathematically proved that we should all be in favor of nuclear power /sarcasm off/

It's really not funny...in the top third they basically blame America for the tragedy of 9-11....and this is the group Al Whore gives lectures to!!
To: Rebelbase
Americans that say they are against the war, and I am against tit as well Sheesh, these losers don't like ANYTHING!
To: Rebelbase
Long on tired, old, anti-capitalism arguments, and very short on substance. I particularly like this one:
And of late, if you have been paying attention there has actually been talk of DRILLING ON THE MOON, albeit, loosely related to science this shows people are thinking about the end of petroleum.
ROTFLOL!!!!
To: Rebelbase
Think for a second. Americans use 25% of the worlds petroleum production. And only represents 5% of the population The real question is what do we produce with 25% of the world's oil...

Is it totally impossible to be both a liberal and capable of following standard grammar. This crap was unreadable.

Or the question should be of all the oil produced in the world how much of it has been extracted thanks to American technology??!!

Think for a second. Americans use 25% of the worlds petroleum production. And only represents 5% of the population. Can we truly state that we want EVERYONE to be a democracy as we are?, Home, Job Cars, 4 Wheelers, 2.5 Kids? Lets do the math, 5%/25%=5. 5 * 100% =500%, As the math simply shows,
Think for a second. This little screed has 17 grammar errors in only 10 paragraphs. Can we truly state that we want to value HIS opinion on anything? Spelling errors 26, run-on sentences 8, incoherent thoughts 12, factual errors 13, logical inconsistencies 18. Lets do the math 17/10 * 26 * 8 * 12 * 13 * 18/ 10 * 3. 14159 = 1246.1009812. As the math simply shows, NO WAY is there even a single iota of brain matter in this boys head that is not already maxed to the limit by the simple exertions of breathing and digesting food.

Wow. Does Howard Dean supply MoveOn with their conspiracies or is it the other way around? Does MoveOn have a heavy libertarian representation?

The one I went to was held at a downtown coffee shop that had a wide screen computer projector.
The attendees ranged in age from early 20's to retired folks with 30 somethings being the most predominant. Probably a 2:1 ratio of women to men.
At least 50-70 people, maybe more.
The crowd was very cliquish. During the viewing portions of the crowd were audibly whining and having hissy fits when the president was shown on the screen. When the issue of possible Nuclear weapons development was mentioned there were laughter outbursts.
I made up my mind to leave when some CIA analyst said the Bush Admin. did not pay any attention to an admission by Saddam's Son, who was in charge of the WMD back in 1991, that "I ordered all Chemical and Biological weapons destroyed".

Drilling on the moon is easy. It's that Moon-to-earth oil pipeline that will be a bear!
Logical thinking is not these people's strong suit. First they argue that liberals can't ever allow the third world to reach our levels of consumption because the world is "self-contained". Then they tell us it is the capitalists who want to prevent these people from becoming consumers.
To: Rebelbase
Yikes. Someone please explain basic grammar and English usage to the person(s) writing this dross.
Anyway, I saw one of those commercials and my first impression was that the budget for Iraq has nothing to do with the other needs they mentioned (e.g. fixing the electrical grid). Also, if they were truly serious about solving all of these other problems, they would be petitioning the government to stop the money going into the space exploration program and use that for these other problems right here. I mean, hey, their beef is we're sending the money to another COUNTRY; well, you'd think they'd be upset that we spend money on other PLANETS. You have to follow their warped logic, which in reality is no logic at all.
Thanks for the post on this topic.
To: Rebelbase
Again remember, it could actually be a beneficial thing for America to see to it that there are still dictators in the world to repress their people so as to prevent them from becoming major consumers.
I know the Nazi-canard is overused, but this guys reasoning seems to be right up that alley.
Are you sure this isnt a parody?

I've always been confused by the oil conservation argument. After all, oil is a
finite resource. For all practical purposes, it
will run out no matter how slowly we use it. We're concerned about our grandchildren? Well, what about our great-great-grandchildren? And their grandchildren? You give me a percentage reduction, and I'll tell you what generation we're gonna be "screwing" by using up all their oil. So what's the point in conserving it?
I can understand the position that conservation can help us reduce our dependence on foreign oil. But perhaps the people who make these arguments are unaware of the advances in the liquefaction of coal---that is, the conversion of coal to oil. It can now be done for about $30 a barrel! And we have enough coal in this country to supply our energy needs for about 300 years.
So the bottom line to me is, if we really felt the need to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil, we could do it without conservation.. plus, no matter what we decide to do it's inevitable that we will have to turn to alternative sources of energy in the future anyway. So research on solar, wind, tidal, fusion, etc. power must go on; and by the time we truly need it we'll be ready!
