Roger hired him because he was an authentic journalist who would ask tough questions of BOTH sides. For shows that aim most of the hard questions at one side there's still Sean's tv and radio show and Rush. Fox was trying to take another step further towards being a broader-based news organization that people who are not registered with the GOP feel comfortable watching, something that clearly is already underway. Tony Snow was a GREAT interviewer and a major talent. Wallace is a great catch given what he offers Fox. But I don't think people who want a cheerleader will like him because, yes, he WILL grill people in the GOP -- and that's why he's likely to in the long run garner greater ratings and respect for FOX which already has respect from Republicans but not quite as much from swing voters/viewers and Democrats.
For your fix of only-the-Democrats are evil watch Sean and skip Chris (and skip Michael Savage by the way; he also asks questions of BOTH sides.)
