We only talk about slavery so much because it's in recent memory. I have clients who recall cowering from the Klan underneath tables while crosses burned. What am I supposed to say? Oh I had nothing to do with that, don't give me your chip on your shoulder...That's pretty insensitive. I used to say things like that. It only creates more bitterness and benefits no one. People DO have to move on eventually. Of course, liberals want people to live in the past because it suits them.

Me, personally... I remember it, but I do not let myself be a prisoner of the memories... And it is where I come from... It is not where I am going to (at least, I hope not! :-))

I should say that I think it goes back to what we were talking about the other day... In this country, we try to get better as a nation and as a society... We fail but we don't quit trying... If we were not able to solve such problems regardless of how much time it takes, who knows... Perhaps the great, great, grandsons of Lee and Grant would be slugging it out over the city of Los Angeles...
