Great thought about the pillow case in the dumpster!
To: Canadian Outrage
I agree with you--Scott was the one who BENEFITTED from the murder (in his sick mind). That goes a long way.

thanks!

I agree!
Scott Peterson: I am so sorry I hurt you in this way. ... It's the worst thing. I'm sorry, Amber. I'll just tell you.
Amber Frey: OK.
Peterson: Uh, you haven't been watching the news, obviously?
Frey: No.
Peterson: I have lied to you. ... I haven't been traveling.
(He tells her he's been in Modesto looking for his wife, Laci).
Frey: You told me that you had lost your wife. What was that about?
Peterson: She ... she's alive.
Frey: Where? She's alive? Where?
Peterson: In Modesto. ... The media has been telling everyone that I had something to do with her disappearance. So the past two weeks I've been hunted by the media. ...
You deserve so much better.
Frey: I deserve to understand an explanation of why you told me you lost your wife and this was the first holidays you'd spend without her. That was Dec. 9 you told me this and now all of a sudden your wife's missing. Are you kidding me?
(Peterson stammers and says he can't explain it now. He repeatedly says he needs to protect "all of us.")
Frey: So where is she?
Peterson: That's what we are trying to find out. ... I'm so sorry. You should be so angry at me and, God, I hope you are.
Frey: You sat here (Dec. 9) in front of me and cried and broke down. I sat here and held your hand, Scott, and comforted you and you were lying to me.
Peterson: Yeah.
Peterson: If you think I had something to do with her disappearance ... er, it, that is so wrong.
Frey: And you still have the audacity to call me "sweetie" right now?
Peterson: I know you can't trust me.
Frey: Didn't you say: "Amber, I will do anything for you. To trust me, uh baby, we have ... I feel we have a future together." What was that about?
Peterson: I never cheated on you.
Frey: Ha, ha, ha.
Peterson: I never did.
Frey: You're married. How do you figure you never cheated on me? Explain that one to me?
(Peterson says he can't explain it to her at this time, a refrain throughout the conversation).
Frey: How did you lose her then before she was lost? Explain that.
Peterson: There's different kinds of loss.
Frey: Then explain your loss.

You're most welcome.

I know SP was discussing Carroll and King with Amber in one of the tapes, according to the NEI've searched like crazy and I can't find where in the NE it says that SP discussed Carroll and King???
To: WestCoastGal
Yes, I remember it well. The tide search was even mentioned at the preliminary hearing.

Woo Hoo! Party time, eh, Scotty?
Next time I'm sure they'll be high fiving each other. Sick turds, the both of them.
And for Jackie to lash out at the cops is so typical of what we've seen of the Peterson gene. "Blame someone else for your problems after you've disposed of your children".
To: Devil_Anse
"I think the theory that they fought furiously, but then she later slept, is something the police have put together b/c they can't otherwise fit all the known facts together--they can't otherwise have her vomiting, but then also sleeping peacefully."
You could be right but isn't it somewhat risky to lock yourself into a story when you're not sure? In the Michael Peterson case the prosecution advanced the theory that he killed her with a missing fireplace poker. Late in the trial the defense was able to produce it and show that it hadn't been used. They did get a conviction but most of the legal experts agreed that it was a major problem for the prosecution.

I think the note from Geragos to Scotty says: "We must get that truck! I'll bet we can get big bucks for it on eBay" Hardy, har, har.
To: Devil_Anse
Jackie is "distinguished looking"?? Coulda fooled me.In a Darth Vader kind of way...
To: Devil_Anse
"Isn't L.A. the very place where they are making this MOVIE about the events?? What kind of "neutral" place would THAT be?"
Oh I don't think Geragos is looking for neutral jurors, he's looking for jurors who don't think probablistically and logically! He has a large pool to draw from in LA and he knows LA - the culture both inside and outside the courtroom.

Depends....ROFL! I like your way of looking at the sentence.
To: maggiefluffs
Thanks!!
The print reporters got Geragos' comment wrong. They said he said, "Mr. Distaso wants to turn into a used truck salesman."
Actually what he said was, "Mr. Distaso wants to turn me into a used truck salesman."
To: clouda
Nothing like Scott's own words to tell the story!
To: Velveeta
In my opinion, that was a mis-reading of a sentence from an article. I don't think Scott and Amber ever discussed Carroll and King.
While Amber may have had King in mind while she was trying to persuade Scott to take a lie detector test, I don't think King's name ever made it into the conversation. And Carroll's sure didn't.
To: Velveeta
"Blame someone else for your problems after you've disposed of your children." How very perceptive of you. We in America tend to forget about heredity when we discuss personality, perhaps b/c we associate such talk with eugenics and stuff like that. But IMO inheritance does affect a person's thinking and actions, you bet. IMO we would do well to consider it more often.
To: drjulie
Well, I don't think the prosecution has locked itself into the story. I think that's just what reporters are reporting. Who knows what the prosecution really thinks?
As for Michael Peterson, yes, that was quite a moment. Didn't they say that supposedly there were numerous pokers or "blow-pokes" like that one, around that large house?
I always thought there was something fishy about the sudden production of that poker, "covered with dust and cobwebs".
To: Velveeta
In a pudgy Darth Vader kind of way...
