"You watch too much television. Evangelicals don't watch TV preachers and neither should you."

I quit watching television about 12 or 14 years ago, for the most part, and I couldn't stand to watch the TV preachers when I did watch it. But I am interested that you don't consider TV preachers to be evangelical, that gives me a slightly better impression of them. What about Pat Robertson, for instance? I have seen his face on TV.

TV preachers are to evangelicals as jenny Jones and What's his (you know Mr. Cincinatti) is to your friends and neighbors. I'm very involved with lots of Evangelicals. I don't know of any who watch TV preachers. They are, for the most part, not very representative of the movement as a whole, though Robertson and Falwell have a significant following. If you recall, Robertson dropped out of the running for prez because of his lack of traction with evengelical voters. Like anything else these days, it's the odd and noisy that get the attention.
