[history]
The outcome of the first reported battle since the end of major combat operations in Iraq suggests victory may be closer than most Americans dare to hope.
Iraqis wearing the black garb of the Fedayeen Saddam ambushed two convoys carrying cash to banks in Samarra, a small town in the Sunni Triangle about 60 miles northwest of Baghdad. The attacks were well planned and coordinated. The attackers were brave. The attackers died like flies.

But it's a quagmire, isn't it?
Actually, anyone with any sense could see that there is not a general uprising against the troops; however, the media insists on portraying that most of the Iraqis plus half the Muslim world are the enemy.

"If the guerrillas believe they must up the ante now, the guerrillas are in trouble."So are the Democrats. Interesting how both of the enemies of freedom are going to be taken down within a few months of each other.

I hope this guy is right. His argument seems sound, although I admit to being a know-nothing in military matters. Prima facie evidence for his argument is the rapidly declining number of insurgent attacks since the coalition stepped-up it's offensive a few weeks ago. We've been capturing/killing 30-80 insurgensts a day, with relatively minor loses on our side.

I believe that the leftists will be on the wrong side of history AGAIN. The really disgraceful thing is NOT that they disagree with the WAR but that they PRAY it goes badly so they can say "I TOLD YOU SO" and with that mantra hopefully regain the power they so desparately desire.

Wish I could find the exact quote, but Lawrence of Arabia in his Pillars of Wisdom said the Arabs were the greatest fighters in the world in groups of 2 or 3 individuals. But they couldn't properly run anything larger than a colonel's command without the Brits to keep the training wheels on.
