Yes, and this year, that sweet, brave young man will not be at home with the family that loves him so very much, and it's going to be hard........

That is perhaps why I have so much less patience with those who are hung up on the trivial, manufacturing in their minds problems with our Commander in Chief, and ignoring the incredible blessings we have because of his leadership.

I thank God daily for President Bush and his Godly leadership, and am PROUD to have a son who is serving under him!

I don't mind telling you that I shed a few tears as I read your response.

As soon as you said he is serving and that it "is going to be hard for you...." well, as a Vet, and as a parent I admit it grabbed some heartstrings.

I'm a pretty tough person under normal circumstances, and we've both seen a lot (see our profile page). But we have a soft spot in our hearts for the troops and their families.

We both want you to know that your son is a hero to us. But so are you and your family. We never forget what the families endure during war.

We feel the same way about this Commander in Chief as you do. Who he is matters!! While we serve no matter who the Commander in Chief is when we are in the service, it sure helps when you respect him. The troops respect this Commander in Chief. When you may give your life under his Command, it matters!

Tell your son that when we are walking around with our grandchildren and they see someone in uniform, they run up to them and thank them for serving. You would think they saw a movie star, in fact, they wouldn't KNOW a movie star, but they know a troop!! They get so nervous and so excited! :o)

We do know how hard this time of the year is for all of you, we've been through simular times. Just know that you are in our prayers.

Tom Brokaw wrote a book called "The Greatest Generation". But it should have been titled "One" of The Greatest Generations". Because he didn't know about this one yet!

Your son makes us so proud. You must be ready to burst with pride.

I know that won't take away the pain of missing him, but I hope it helps a little to know that others love him too, and other Vets are saying "Job Well Done!".

We thank GOD for him. We pray to God for protection over him, and to bring him home safely and soon. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ who shed His blood for all of us.

Please keep us posted on how he is doing. Let us know when he is coming home, K?

~Merry CHRISTmas~
