Monday December 01, 2003 7:23 PM Reporting from: Kanoone Sokhan, Los Angeles, CA, USA Reported by: Sadegh Saleh of the Marze Por Gohar Party at www.marzeporgohar.org Name of the Speaker: Muhammad Arassy, Elahe Amani, Shahla Samsami, Jiela Kashef, Parto Nori-Ala Subject: The Roll and Influence of giving the Nobel Peace Price to Shirin Ebadi -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mrs. Nor-Ala, member of Writer Society, started tonights meeting with a poem, named: Ensanam Man (Im a Human Being). This poem was made of 2 parts: Part 1: How men suppress women: Chon Zani (Because youre a Woman) Part 2: A woman telling about her fight with the men: Chon Zanam (Because Im a Woman)
Mrs. Elahe Amani of Society of Female Student continued: In a time of talks about Iranian weapons of mass-distraction and ignorance of human rights, this Nobel Price to an Iranian is very welcomed. On the other hand, since the religious society tries to stop women development, it gives women a boost not to let them. I see myself with her side by side to serve and protect the Human Rights.
Mr. Muhammad Arassy, member of Jebhe Melli, said: The influence of the Nobel Price is the opinion change of the world towards Iran. Until then the World thought of Iran as a man dominated fighting nation, but an Iranian woman winning the Peace Price showed otherwise. We Iranian are mostly analyzing and thereafter view and confronting the society with our Islamic values, ignoring the rights of Jewish and communists and other minorities. But the Human View changes with modernization. Now that an Iranian Woman won the Noble Peace Price, we must change our View towards the others) and treat them with respect to their Rights.
Mrs. Shahla Samsami, who studied law in Iran and continued in exercising the law once she came to the US, is a Psychotherapist. She added: We are in the 21st century, a century that started with negative images like 9-11, which was a good excuse for countries that call themselves democratic to engage others (Afghanistan and Iraq) into war and to disrespect their human rights. The people of these countries are loosing hope and psychoanalytically hopelessness brings Fear, Drug Addiction and Aggression. In this century being a Moslem seemed to be a negative image, until Mrs. Shirin Ebadi, a middle-Eastern Moslem won the Nobel Peace Price.
Mrs. Jiela Kashef of Children Protection Society, who works at the technical department of Sony, ended the night by telling Mrs. Ebadis activities on how she established the Society of Children Rights Protection in Iran and her book: Children Rights.
