They probably got some stats that old people die more often on warm days (remember the 10,000 or so people who died in France during their heat wave). So it means life expectancy is cut by one or two days. What they don't consider is that cold weather kills far more people than warm weather.

The people in France died due to lack of airconditioning and the inability to cool off. Turn off the heat and see how many old people die on a cold day.
