Capitalists rescued us from the Great Depression and a potential Bolshevik Revolution by spending more than ever before on advertising. A consumer culture was born unlike ever before, and the Puritan work-ethic and entrepreneurial spirits spread like wildfire. FDR created a culture of entitlements that shackle us with exorbitant tax rates and little in return. Who were these capitalists that saved us from the Great Depression and when did they do it? President Hoover certainly didnt help by attempting to balance the budget when demand for goods and services was drying up. Remember the Depression was in place four years before FDR was even elected.
When actually did this advertising surge occur and how big an increase was it? The consumer culture didnt develop until after World War II following years of pentup demand and price controls.
FDR may have started Social Security but the bulk of the entitlement society didnt arrive until the 60's and the programs and tax bite were relatively small until the 70's and 80's when the Democrats and Republicans increased taxes to pay for them.
Meanwhile, they say FDR got us into WWII by ignoring warnings of an impending attack on Pearl Harbor.
Who is they? The Illuminatti followers? The conspiracy kooks? FDR was preparing the nation for war during the late 30's and early 40's. He was wise enough to see that Hitler wasnt going to be satisfied with mainland Europe regardless of what the kook Buchannan thinks.
The Reagans didn't get where they have by being stupid.
Not so sure that you can say the same about yourself.

Here's perhaps the best book on the subject, and the reviews posted there are helpful:

And the seeds of that entitlement mentality were planted by FDR. We'll have plenty more tax increases coming up, thanks to it.

You're absolutely right. I didn't get where I am by being stupid. If you meant something else by that, then may I ask to whom your OTHER three fingers are pointing when you're pointing your index one at me?
