We were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.

The message you may give,
The words that come from you,
Most truly honor Jesus
When love is given too. D. De Haan

God gives to you so you can give to others.

It has finally stopped. We got about six inches and a lot of fender benders.

Thank you, Lori, for posting the remembrance of Pearl Harbor.
Yes, Meekie, it was indeed a Sunday, and I was 7 1/2 years old.
I remember well having our large console radio on, and Daddy hushed us to listen to the grim broadcast relating what had happened.

Some of us here remember all too well what it was like to be engaged in a War Around The World...not just in one or two nations at a time.
It was a far reaching thing, dominating every life and involving every family in one way or another.

It, however, had a far different response by the nation - Truly United - with no one in opposition to the war.

Please pause a moment to thank all those who lost their lives
so you and I might have one - - -

Also on this day consider this:

o Early in the morning the Japanese launched 350 airplanes against the United States Fleet.
o The attack at Pearl Harbor killed 2,388 people; wounded around 2,000.
o It destroyed 21 American ships and more than 300 planes.

Here is something to ponder:

On September 11, 2001, three planes destroyed two New York City landmarks
and part of The Pentagon, plus the American airliner that went down
in Pennsylvania.
How many persons were killed or injured at the three sites??
What - more than at Pearl Harbor??!!

Why, then, are so many Americans opposed to the War against Terror
being taken to their doors, before it reaches more of ours??

What if terrorists were to strike the naysayers' little corner of America tomorrow??

Thank you for posting The Good News on this Sabbath Day.
This month we honor the birth of the Son of God,
born to die and rise to live again
that you and I might live under God's love and grace!

May all at The Finest have peace and joy,
this and every month of every year.

Thank you, LadyX.

I was amazed that immediately after the collapse of the World Trade Center, with the parts of bodies still lying in the streets, the anti-war protestors were out spewing their garbage.
If that had happened after Pearl Harbor, they would have been beaten to death.
The PC crowd has made serious inroads into the stability of our nation.
It's past time to turn back to love of country, family and God.

Give It Away

Read: 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12

We were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us. —1 Thessalonians 2:8

Bible In One Year: 1 Thessalonians 1-5

Parents, teachers, and school board members in central Texas were astounded when a retired couple offered 4-year college scholarships to all 45 children in a local school's first-grade class. The only conditions are that the child stays off drugs, graduates from the high school in that district, and attends an accredited Texas public university, junior college, or trade school. Years earlier, a company had paid half the college tuition for one of the donors, and he never forgot. "They helped me," he says, "and now it's my turn."

All of us have received a gift we can share with others. Although it may not be money, it's something that has enhanced our lives. Paul reminded the Thessalonians that "we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us" (1 Thessalonians 2:8).

What has been given to you that you need to pass along in the name of Christ? The gift of listening when someone needs to talk? Sharing in a Bible-study group where people learn to nourish themselves from the Word? Sending a thoughtful card to someone with a heavy heart?

The gospel is always most effective when it is shared by people who joyfully give themselves away. —David McCasland

The message you may give,
The words that come from you,
Most truly honor Jesus
When love is given too. —D. De Haan

God gives to you so you can give to others.

Sorry I'd signed off for a while before you posted this, TC.
If there is such a thing as "they are turning over in their graves," in actuality or in the spirit, surely the elders of the 40's and our own deceased parents are doing just that.

The term even small children of that day knew well were quislings, or fifth columnists.

Today, those often are your neighbors or co-workers, determined to vote us out of existence and institute socialism for our Republic....

"The gospel is always most effective when it is shared by people who joyfully give themselves away. — David McCasland" and "God gives to you so you can give to others." both are words to absorb and live.

Paul's teachings are as relevant today as they were in his own time...another of that essentially uneducated (by our standards today) and some even uncouth 'ordinary' bunch of ruffians Our Savior gathered to be teachers of persons.

No matter what the masses thought they were in the structure of human life, only belief in Him and living by these instructions could bring true happiness and ensure a life hereafter. The same applies today, and tomorrow...

I was 2 1/2 and don't remember Pearl Harbor. I don't remember the worst thing you could call somebody was "Hitler."

I remember victory gardens and candy that came in a cardboard tanks. I remember kids wearing minature military uniforms and airguard wings.

And I remember ration stamps. My dad said my mother didn't drimk coffee until it became rationed and she wanted hers, too. She tried to smoke and I remember her on the sofa recovering from two puffs. I remember playing jacks with rocks and a golf ball. I remember getting my first rubber ball--had to throw it on the sidewalk to bounce. It was black tire rubber painted blue. When the soft red rubber balls hit the stores, the mothers were excited and the kids wondered why because we had no clue what a real rubber ball was.
