The primary focus of Dubya's domestic policy has been the systematic elimination of the checks and balances that have been woven all throughout our Constitution.

I can understand how he might want such powers for his own Presidency. But, either through intent or ignorance, he is ignoring or doesn't seem to realize that sooner of later, there will be a Rat in the Whitehouse and all of those checks and balances that he destroyed will no longer be there to protect us from the Rats.

Those checks and balances are there to protect Americans from an all-powerful administration, that has no scruples. What Dubya and th' boyz have already done is a travesty. Just imagine what Hillary will do, should she ever get elected. She will use those unchecked powers, that Dubya created, against her political enemies, which will certainly include FreeRepublic and FReepers and when her enemies are disposed of, she will become Queen Hillary - all thanks to Dubya's dismantling of our constitutional checks and balances.

It's time for Republican voters to accept the fact that the GOP has been hijacked by RINOs and that most of our party's elected officials, most especially Dubya, are intent on consolidating all power in the hands of a few elite in the federal government.

In other words, it's time to replace Dubya with a real conservative.

OK Mr Smartypants I'll bite WHOM ? do you suppose to replace him with under the kind of pressure this president is under do you think Ron Paul or Allen Keyes would do any better?

I do agree that they need to leave our constitution alone completely But terrorism is a different kind of war there is no standing army instead the army is non-uniformed and suicidle by its nature you cant capture or prosecute whats already killed itself and taken others with it so there has to be some way to catch the bastards or we will end up being the slaves of both ! which in the end may be what happens if we do anything or do nothing were screwed either way !

If you don't have anything to hide, what are you worried about? Only criminals squawk about their "constitutional rights"

So, when will you be sending your house keys to the Justice Dept? How about a list of all your Internet user IDs and passwords, so that they can be sure you're not doing anything you shouldn't be doing? Hmmm?

A long time ago, I realized that a government or beaurocracy (sp?) is like a living thing. Always trying to grow and expand. And like the old saying goes, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions," any well meaning law WILL eventually be used in ways the authors never intended, and probably would be agahst at! For example, who would have ever thought that the RICO statutes would have been used against pro-life groups!

I was being sarcastic. I just thought I'd get that in before some of the jackboot lickers did.

Sorry for missing the sarcasm, but there are some here who support that position for real!

I'm sure the Bots see this as the Second Coming, but I shudder at the thought of Ashcroft and his successors having an unlimited fishing license. An FBI that knowingly sent patsies to Death Row while colluding with the Mob can't be trusted to operate outside judicial restraint control.

If you are familiar with or have ever known about a political whisper campaign waged by politicos against their perceived enemies,.....

Like the one Lyndon Johnson launched against an opponent? He told his cronies one day that he wanted them to whisper around that the other fellow liked to mess with little boys. "Big John" Connally was aghast: "Lyndon, you know that's not true! We can't say something like that about him!"

LBJ narrowed his squinty little eyes and said, "I know. I just want to hear him say it!"

Can you imagine what that would do to a politician today, with the "soccer mom" vote?

Actually, I can think of quite a few conservatives who would do much better, in general. And yes, I do believe that both Ron Paul and Alan Keyes would have done a much better job than Dubya has done. Actually, that's saying a lot more than you would think, since I think that Keyes is too much of a single issue conservative to have my support, under most circumstances and Ron Paul is getting too old. The fact that I would support either over Dubya is significant.

But, of all of the true conservatives out there, I think that I would have to say that my choice today, would probably be Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO). His voting record shows that he has great respect for the Constitution. Like every other Congressman and Senator, he was pressured into voting for the (ANTI)Patriot Act, before he had a chance to read the final version. But to his credit, he has been a leader in trying to get large parts of it repealed. He also voted against the HSA, much of which has since been dropped, due to the number and strength of constitutional challenges. My faith in him is further supported by the fact that Dubya has just recently banned him from the Whitehouse. That's an honor that he has not even seen fit to bestow on a single Democrat; even liberals like Kennedy or Feinstein. If Dubya hates (or fears) him that much, Tancredo can't be bad.

We need a conservative in the Whitehouse, who will take this war or any war, to the turf of the enemy, as has Dubya, but who will jealously protect our rights at home, rather than do everything that he can to subvert them, as has Dubya. There are plenty to choose from. But, the first step is to oust Dubya or he and his bushbots will just block all of our efforts to nominate a real conservative.

Let's just do away with the Constitution and be done with it.
