He announced his plans to run as the conservative choice for conservative members of the Republican party today on the Roger Hedgecock radio show. Kaloogian is committed to tax cuts and other conservative views, and he used part of his time on the radio to denounce Boxer's failed liberal policies.

_ In the 3rd Congressional District, around Sacramento, incumbent Rep. Doug Ose is retiring after three terms. Three strong candidates are vying for the Republican nomination to replace him, including state Sen. Rico Oller of San Andreas, former Attorney General Dan Lungren, and Mary Ose, a Sacramento businesswoman and Doug Ose's sister.
_In the 20th District, where Democratic Rep. Cal Dooley is stepping down, a primary battle is brewing between former state Sen. Jim Costa and Lisa Quigley, Dooley's former chief of staff. While the Fresno-area district is considered largely Democratic, Republicans are watching the race in case a bloody battle between Quigley and Costa weakens the eventual nominee and offers some hope for Republicans to capture the seat in November.
_In the 46th District, Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher will face a challenge from former U.S. Rep. Robert Dornan, once known to many voters as "B-1 Bob" both for his ardent support of the B-1 bomber program and often bombastic rhetorical style. Dornan, a former radio host who served 18 years in the House before being ousted by Democrat Loretta Sanchez in 1996, filed papers in Orange County late Friday.
