There seems to be some confusion about the initials A.P.A. Sometimes the American Psychological Association is being referred to; other times it's the American Psychiatric Association. What gives? Can't these two huge organizations come up with separate handles??

Let's see if I can put that in perspective. Lets say the existence of gravity came to a vote and 58% of all the scientists said it doesn't exist and 42% say it does...how comfortable would feel jumping out of an airplane without your parachute? That's basically what APA is dealing with here.
In his paper Socarides talks about the patients he's cured, that should give you some documentation that behavioral therapy works...and that was way before NARTH or any other religious based therapy organizations came into existence.
