If they are not patient, we have a chance.
The strategy first suggested on FR four years ago is to vote for Dean or Hillary. The idea being this will quicken the inevitable and we are better off dealing with it now than later. Sometimes I do feel that way. A week of giant give-aways and the biggest new entitlment in 50 years being put into place by "our side" encourages one to think it may not be such a bad idea.
Another way of looking at it is to see things as Churchill did. I don't have the exact quote at hand, but he strongly suggested using every means to fight the enemy short of actual conflict, while you are strong, so as to avoid a physical conflict when you are weak. I would suggest that this means fighting the anti-gun, anti-Constitution forces at every turn at the level of politics. Hastening the day of CW2 may decide the issue sooner, but it will also be lots bloodier. Given how the liberal Dems are moving further to the left of the American public, THEY may be the losers as more time passes. This issue is, of course, open to debate - and reasonable people of good will can disagree, even if they are on the same side.
That being said, it is still wise to be prepared in every way possible way for any possibility. Frankly, the better prepared our side is for any possibility, the less likely the other side is to force the issue.
