However, if you do what Rush does for a living you had better be above reproach in your own personal life ... or enemies will find the chink in your armor and exploit it.

Well then, nobody had better ever try to do what Rush does for a living because every living human being is fallible. There will always be a chink in the armor, somewhere.

Wrong Steve, but nice try to distort the arguement. Rush wasn't selling drugs. Usually non-violent addicted non-traffickers get probation for a first offense if they go through treatment, which Rush has done.

Don't be a hypocrite Dane. If you were a cop who had evidence that someone procured 2000+ pills from doctors and thousands more off the street you would already impounded their houses, cars and guns.

I don't think Rush's should be confiscated but I feel that way about everyone who hasn't been convicted and the assets PROVEN IN A COURT OF LAW IN FRONT OF A JURY to be the fruits of an illegal operation. But then the constitution is not something I wipe my A$$ with like you and your buds.

Go sieze someones car or boat for posessing a joint. (Not Rush though!!) You will feel better.

Holt: "You say this is a fishing expedition, but the subpoena is specific."

In a word ... Yep!

If this was a liberal .. these so-called media/press people would be screaming that Ashcroft was out to get them

If Rush's medical records should be public record ... then about about they release Clinton's medical records

Exactly. All you have to do is pronounce the words "Ashcroft" or "Patriot Act," and the liberals get the vapors.

Yes Luke, let the hyperbole flow.

Now I will admit that a miniscule amount of users(non-traffickers) had their property taken away(in the whole scheme of things), but you know that is basically the exception, instead of the rule.

Some people need to take a real close look at their principles, or lack thereof.

Amen, brother.

The needs of the many . . . . . Spock

Tell that to the people who lost their cars in roadside stops for a few seeds or a joint their son left in the car. Hell these small town cops were making a killing if an expressway went through their jurisdiction. This $#!T is indefensible and UnAmerican

OK I get your point(aka joint), just so that your joint is not taken away from you, you are willing to have drugs go unhindered.

JMO, but you are a Hillary wet dream.

I have said this before but I will ad it here:

They are desperate to find some charge to place Rush outside the jurisdiction of Drug Court. A drug court case would only achieve a dismissal and treatment.

The financial crimes department of the State Attorney's offices is spearheading the rush "investigation".

They Palm Beach Democrats want a full criminal court case not a drug court case. They will charge in that direction with that goal regardless how flimsy the evidence.

Black: "Of all the millions of people addicted to painkillers, have you ever seen their doctors being subpoenaed?"

I have. The times I've seen it, though, the target of the inquiry was the physician or physicians involved.

Rush isn't going to lose his show over this. His audience understands what happened to him and how he became an addict. Is there any evidence that any great number of his fans have left him over this?

Sorry, did I leave out too many steps to follow?

1. Limbaugh is alleged to have committed felonies, to wit, obtaining overlapping prescriptions via the use of fraud, and is being investigated seeking evidence of said felonies.

2. Limbaugh supporters cry that "everybody" does bad things but only Rush is persecuted.

3. I doubt very much that "everybody" obtains overlapping prescriptions from different doctors by the use of fraud.

4. Of course, Rush is innocent until proven guilty. As is Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Scott Peterson, etc., etc., etc.

It is for all intents and purposes, unheard of when it is a user case. It is generally only done when the doctor is the target of the case.

Of course it begs the question of whether they intend to charge the doctors in order to get them to flip on rush.

If it was joe average, he certainly would not be in jail since this would be a first offense and since he's already gone through rehab. For joe average, this thing would have blown over by now.

So you do concede "Joe Average" would be prosecuted. You're discussing fair punishment.

It's amazing how many times I've been accused of making statements totally different than what I've actually said regarding Rush. I said everyone is fallible, not felons.

Well, the case against Rush would be difficult, I think, unless he deceived these physicians. I really can't imagine Rush attempting to go into a doctor's office under an assumed name. His story is that he went to these doctors, pointed at his back, said it hurts, got prescriptions and took the pills. There is of course the possibility that he neglected to disclose the treatment (or details of the treatment) he was receiving from other doctors, but that's common, and particularly common for people who are suffering disabling pain and under the influence of drugs. LOL.

We'll have to see what they come up with, but I think it might be a tough case against old Rush. ;-)
