WASHINGTON -- President Bush's aides are considering a new lunar exploration program and other unifying national goals like a campaign to promote longevity or fight childhood illness or hunger, as they sift ideas for a fresh agenda for the final year of his term, administration officials said Thursday.

Agencies and task forces in several parts of the government have been assigned to determine the cost and feasibility of a variety of such major ideas, which could cost billions of dollars at a time when the nation is running a substantial budget deficit.

A senior administration official said policy experts have also done extensive research into the possibility of universal health insurance for children. The official said the administration has also been "going to considerable effort to see how much it would cost to attack child hunger and quote, unquote end child hunger."

Go with the space program - it has benefits for all of America, and I can see having my tax dollars going towards that goal. I won't, however, agree to spend any more on purely socialist goals. At that point, "We the people" may decide it's time for another tea party.

campaign to promote longevity

Didn't he already set up a plan to confiscate more of our future earnings to buy the votes of the wealthiest demographic group in the U.S?

The devil, of course, will be in the details, but it's a safe bet that Bush will continue accelerating the progression of socialism in this country. It's been a long time since I've voted for a non-Republican, but I truly don't see how we can afford to keep him President.

I'll say it again: We'll have socialized health care in this country within 10 years - supported by Republicans.
