Seems to me, if I were Rush, I'd want the entire matter thoroughly investigated and brought into the open.

Then if the accusations are false, it will be on the record.

If they are not false and wrong doing is found, then he should not be above the law.

The problem with legal fishing expeditioins is that you can have a very determined lawyer take an innocent act and expand it into something sinister. (think of cross examination)

The prosecutor has more than enough to submit this case into the drug court right now, IF that was his goal. This prosecutors goal is to cobble together a charge outside of the Drug Court and push Rush into regular criminal court where the stakes are much higher. The SA only needs the probable cause to charge. It is unheard of for a SA to devote this much effort on a user case.

We know Rush is an admitted adict.
We know Rush abused perscription drugs
We do not know how Rush obtained those pills.
We do know the Democrats of Palm Beach are active and that the SA is one of them.

Even so, rush needs to show he had a legitimate reason to have those pills and he has reasonable doubt.

Roy Black can bring in person after person who has to take more than 11.4 pills per day. Experts to testify that such an amount is not unusual. (In addition to his own doctors.)

For Palm Beach to loose this one when they had a Drug Court textbook case on a silver platter is going to make them L.A. East.
