How do you figure. He drove straight down the middle of the street. Why not up the curb into a building thus sparing lives and dozens of injuries, or into a parked car? Because he was trying to get away that's why.

CHP investigators said Weller had his "eyes open, hands on the steering wheel at the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock position" and avoided hitting parked cars on either side of him as his Buick sedan leveled stands and hurled pedestrians into the air.

According to the CHP he had enough control to avoid hitting parked cars.. i fail to see the embelishment. A lack of control would have resulted in crashing into the parked vans and or sidewalk
