This will eventually bring us closer to socialized medicine (why? because--in general--women are more to the left).

Sounds like perfect timing for the female gender when it comes to the medical profession -- getting into the profession just as salaries are being supressed by HMOs and government caps on fees for medical procedures.

well, perhaps it will do what it did for pharmacy contribute to the shortage of pharmacists. I know several female pharmacists who work one day a week or not at all.

Time for some affirmative action for white males.
Sandee and Ruthie will kibitz and let us know if the 14th Amendment protects 'diversity' for whites.
Oh, wait. 'Diversity' means everyone, but white males. I forgot.

You think its going to stop at 50.8 %? The trend lines are clear. The public high schools are dumping more and more boys into "academic" classes. More and more boys are dropping out or not attending college. In fact , the SAT;'s were recently revised to
further the bias towrds girls. The only quotas the feminists are against are the ones involving gender equity when it comes to college entrants.
My prediction: 65 to 70 % of med school applicants will be female in 15 years. Do the math.

Femanazis have been trying to ace little boys out of the picture down in the grade schools..through high school and into college for quite some time now...not surprising to see the results of overt discrimination finally roosting in med and law schools..
I'm betting the greater numbers of female 'educators' in the Jr High and High Schools have something to do with this...
It's a plot I tell you...and the plot thickens...

This will eventually bring us closer to socialized medicine (why? because--in general--women are more to the left). Hogwash. Growing up, my pediatrician was male...but I found that as I got older, I preferred female doctors. That's not to say that I didn't give male doctors a chance. I visited 2 male gynecologists before settling on a female one. I visited 3 male internists before settling on a female one. I visited 3 male psychiatrists before...well, you get the point. The best doctor I ever had in the U.S. was a woman, and a minority at that. She was genuinely concerned with ME as a person and MY health. That's getting less and less common. I recommended her to friends and work colleagues alike, and the verdict was unanimous: she ROCKED. If I ever lived in Austin again, I would again employ her services. She was great. We need a million more just like her.

All of you are on the money! (I graduated medical school in the mid-west in the early '70s, BTW).

It's a plot I tell you...and the plot thickens... Gawd. That's just embarrassing. Don't you feel embarrassed? The time machine is here...it's ready to take you back to the 1950s.
To: Pharmboy
Same has been true for quite a while in law schools, yet people see no need to end the programs that help give women a leg up.

You got it right Joe.
Publicy-edumacated boys are being repressed and "shushed" more and more. Their creativity and natural zest are being stifled. Slowly, they are being "wussified".
Meanwhile, girls are being taught to be more aggressive and competitive.
There's a bad shift here...and a very disturbing trend...

I don't know what this was doing on a sports web site, thought it was a joke. But this seems like the perfect thread.

One of the unmentionables here is that women tend to have much shorter careers, work less hours, and want less demanding areas of practice avoiding such things as ER, General Surgery, Cardiac and Neurosurgery. Very tough for a woman ( or man for that matter ) to balance the more demanding aspects of medicine with family life. Not PC but true. As a result a lot less bang for the buck of the medical education dollars invested by society.

The best doctors I've ever had were female. The male doctors just gave me the runaround and act like they have better things to do, then get me out of there as quickly as possible so he could get back to the nurses. They were literally clueless and the minute I went to a female she knew immediately what the problem was before tests were even run and the tests confirmed it. Never again will I go to a male doctor.

We need a million more just like her.Yes, gynecologists. But not try to drive out men in the many, many fields of medicine besides women's health.
The less men go to college, even though society unfortunately says the piece of paper is important in all careers, the harder it will be for them to find work. Men commit more crimes than women (sorry if that doesn't sound feminist tough), and if they have trouble finding jobs, there will be more crime. Women, on the other hand, don't rob too many convenience stores.

I think that everyone with potential needs to go to college, but there are too many idiots in college these days. You don't have to be smart; you just have to have money. I don't think that we should be raising the bar for the girls and hurting the boys at the same time, but I don't really see what everyone is complaining about. I didn't notice any bias towards girls in my school and I graduated from high school only ten years ago. If anything, the teachers were ever so slightly biased in favor of the boys. That's just my opinion.
