Describing the U.S.-backed road map as incomplete, Beilin said it contains Bush's vision of a Palestinian state but does not provide a detailed "endgame" for resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
Right, Yossi, Israel retreats to the 67/48 borders and then the palestinians decide what they want to do next. An endgame is a deal killer after all. And McClellan says other approaches could be useful? So much for all the nonsense his boss says about performance. But hes right. If the PA is required to confront terror, the road map fails, so why not borrow a little from Geneva and eliminate the endgamr.
Of course, terrorists operating in Iraq dont see a message here, that terror, applied consistently over a period of time, trumps speeches and road maps and good intentions every time.
Anyway, to make the approach useful, GWB may have to borrow a tactic from our hard left, to get a leftist government installed in Israel. Clinton sent James Carville, Stanley Greenberg and Robert Schrum to Israel to improve the chances of the far left, and successfully take Netanyahu out of the picture.
I suspect GWB may have to do the same thing, because beyond Sharon, Bibi is still lurking in the wings, and labors prospects are dismal.
Im not sure if Carville would work for Bush, but Dick Morris would, hes worked for Republicans in the past. He could take Clinton with him, since the odds of his making good on his promise to defend Israel in the trenches (fat chance) are increasing.
Then again, John Kerry has a similar plan in the works. The White House could adopt as their own.
Sure, that's a palestinian concession since it implys an agreemeet doesn't require killing all the Jews, just expelling them.
