Clinton Did Diddlysquat on Crime, AIDS

The Washington Post: "Washington - District of Columbia health officials, who every day confront the nation's highest incidence of AIDS, will soon install plain white condom dispensers in select government offices and begin distributing the contraceptives for free. The goal is to place more than 50 condom dispensers in offices frequented by the public, including the D.C. Housing Authority and the departments of human services, motor vehicles and public works, among others. 'They're going to be as common as water fountains,' Ivan O. Torres, interim director of the city's HIV/AIDS Administration, said of the dispensers. 'The mayor is committed to this. ... This is no longer something to be ashamed of. It affects all of us.'
"City officials, who announced the measure on World AIDS Day Monday, said they know of no other city or state that has distributed prophylactics so broadly from within government buildings." They're proud of it! They think they are leaders. They're on the cutting edge here, folks. They're happy! The first government in the country to put condom machines in public government offices. This is not where they're needed, however, ladies and gentlemen. The condom machines are not needed where the public goes. The condom machines are needed where the public isn't allowed because that's where the public really ends up getting screwed.
All right, now, in a related story - I'm sorry, but all these things tie together - yesterday, or Sunday, recently, was World AIDS Day, and AIDS awareness, of course, was highlighted. But guess what? On the same day that AIDS awareness was highlighted, it was announced that crime rates are down. What's the connection, what's the common denominator, what's the link between AIDS awareness and a big drop in crime rates? Well, this is a lot more than a pop quiz, my friends. This is an insight into the liberal playbook.
The common denominator between AIDS awareness and a drop in crime? I'll give you a minute to think about it. What is the common denominator between AIDS awareness and a drop in crime? The answer is, Bill Clinton, ladies and gentlemen. Now, stick with me on this. I know you're, "What? Rush you're going off the deep end here." Patience, my friends. When I've asked you to stick with me, it's always been worth it, and you always end up going, "Oh, yeah," at the end of it, no matter how ridiculous it sounds at the beginning, right? So stick with me on this. There was a piece on the George Stephanopoulos show Sunday - and again, I'm telling you, I think the set - did you see it? It looks like that show is coming from that secret bedroom at Neverland, Michael Jackson's secret bedroom.
Anyway, there was a piece on the Stephanopoulos show Sunday. I don't know if it was a spot, if it was a PSA, but it featured long quotes from Clinton, Kofi Annan and Nelson Mandela. AIDS awareness kicked off with words from Bill Clinton, Kofi Annan, Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela, and Bill Clinton, in this spot. And so Clinton's latest, last-best-shot at a legacy is AIDS. AIDS awareness, AIDS funding, AIDS solutions. There's Clinton all over George Stephanopoulos' show on Sunday with Kofi and with Mandela and there's Clinton, there's Clinton again, and it's AIDS Awareness Day. Now, don't misunderstand me on this, my friends.
Any good that Bill Clinton brings to help AIDS awareness to relieve AIDS suffering, that's great. I'm all for it. Don't misunderstand me here. But first, I've got to ask question of these three people - Mandela, Kofi Annan and Clinton. Of these three, of you three gentlemen - maybe you can answer this yourself - which of these three, Mandela, Annan, Clinton, has done the most to relieve the suffering of AIDS? The answer is George W. Bush. George W. Bush pledged billions to fight AIDS in Africa and here in America, and what did the former president pony up? What did the former president pony up? What did Bill Clinton do for AIDS sufferers?
Something about gays in the military, and do you forget the words of Richard Gere? Richard Gere denounced then-President Clinton for offering little more than lip service to AIDS. (You could say "trembling" lip service to AIDS.) One of Clinton's own supporters: He didn't do diddlysquat! Yet here's a PSA. Clinton, Kofi, Nelson, Clinton and then Kofi, and Nelson Mandela, then Clinton. Clinton's all over this thing. AIDS Awareness Day. "We must all work..." He didn't do diddlysquat! George W. Bush has done more than any of these three people put together. I repeat: Whatever good Clinton does add to the fight - he's going to be helping, even it's later rather than sooner.
But back to the point: the connection between AIDS awareness and the dropping crime rate, the denominator is how Clinton sucks the oxygen out of trends that are already in motion. Here he is claiming credit for something he's got nothing to do with. And, by the way, if you really want to know why the Bush-haters are Bush-haters, you have to include Bill Clinton in the mix. I'll get to that here in just a second. Just yesterday we got the wonderful news of a sharp decline in crime statistics in New York City, and at first blush you might think, and if you didn't think you'd be told it was Bill Clinton's hundred thousand cops program, and you'd be wrong, wrong, wrong.
The decline in crime was matched by a decline in cops in New York City alone. There's 4,000 fewer cops in New York City in the last three years. There's no such thing as 100,000 new cops. It was all smoke and mirrors and all PR. And so for the historians, for the cable shows, this is basically a case of how Bill Clinton sells himself to the media. Before Clinton took office, crime rates were in a downward trend. What did Clinton do? Well, Clinton comes up with a way to take credit for it. The hundred thousand new cops over five years or ten years or whatever. The moment he announced the plan, even before the plan took hold and he could take bragging rights for reducing crime. He saw the crime rate coming down, so he comes up with a program and get out in front of it when he had nothing to do with it in the first place.
So that's the connection. As president he couldn't take credit for fighting AIDS, but now, thanks to George W. Bush, he can - and he is. He didn't do diddlysquat when he was president. Bush is doing more for AIDS than Clinton ever thought about doing, and guess who's got PSAs running all over the place claiming that he did something about AIDS? Bill Clinton. And Hillary - they're sucking the oxygen out of the 2004 election trying as hard as they can anyway, just so you know. And about this business of the Bush-haters. I think, really, when you get down to the brass tacks, all the obvious reasons we've discussed, and you've had your input today and you know what you think and we're probably all right to a certain degree, but I will be more right than any of you, and it is thus.
Do the Bush-haters hate Bush because of Florida? They hate Bush because he's a Republican? Do they hate Bush because of the Supreme Court? Do they hate Bush because of the way he talks? Do they hate Bush because he's from Texas? Do they hate Bush because the Europeans are mad at us? Do they hate Bush for all these reasons? Maybe it's a little bit something deeper, uh, ladies and gentlemen. Maybe it's possible the Bush-haters hate Bush because he's successful. And because Bush, as a successful president, shows how ineffective a leader Bill Clinton was.
Remember how much they have tied up into Clinton. Those eight years were the best eight years any of these liberals ever had. Nothing happened; nothing of any consequence happened. In fact, major issues that we all needed to face were put off, not dealt with, sex in the Oval Office and all that stuff was the priority. Now, whether you agree with Bush's policies or not, he led us to two tax cuts, and he led us into Afghanistan, and he's led us into Iraq. We got the war on terrorism. We've got the prescription drug entitlement.
You think everything changed after 9-11? Well, why didn't it change after the first World Trade Center bombing in '93? Why didn't it change after the Khobar Towers? Why didn't it change after the USS Cole? Leaders lead. Unleaders unlead. We got all kinds of stuff that should have been dealt with during Clinton's years but weren't. Bush has come along and he's taken every mess Clinton left and he's cleaning it up, and the liberals hate this because Bush is showing just how ineffective and worthless a leader Bill Clinton really was!
And that, my friends, is the root of the hatred. Because if you take a Bill Clinton out of these people's psyche, take Bill Clinton out of their self-esteem and they've got zip, nothing - and this is why I am so amazed. They think Clinton is the second coming, and the party is just imploding. It is the most amazing thing. There is some sort of idolatrous hero worship going on here that's clouding these liberals' view of reality. I'm telling you, their hatred of Bush is rooted in the fact that they resent all to hell Bush is making Clinton look like everything we said he was.

The "Clinton 90's Roadshow" is being exposed, everyday since 9/11, for the feckless farce that those eight years of Bill Clinton really were.
I agree. There just really isn't enough adjectives and invectives to describe the Clinton's or their activities.
