IMHO FCS is taking on a life of it's own and will be self sustaining for years to come. The way it is being developed with the LSI concept reminds me of the blind men describing an elephant and then trying to make some sense out of all of that.
The Abrams WILL be around until at least 2025 in some form.
The indirect fire platforms of all types have some serious problems. Missiles in a box sounds neat, but in reality it just doesn't work like planned. The Crusader might even come back, maybe not as originally designed, but something that will fill the gap between mortars and MLRS/ATACMS. IMHO the Army put too much faith into missiles and not tube artillery and are now paying the price for doing so.
