Reporter: "You did say that to me when we talked one on one (Sept. 6, 2003) that you would consider a package deal that would have included a requirement of insurance for those people that are going to get the drivers license. That I know is something that you believe in. Do you also believe that all undocumented immigrants will be able to get a drivers license if they present insurance, if they have a background check, fingerprints?

Can't remember ever whining about being slandered.
I do remember pointing out the fact.
What a graceless, unlovely person you must be, to respond this way to my agreeing with you. Why would I ever care, then, whether someone like you believed me or not?

There will be a new referendum petition on any illegal drivers licence bill bo matter what restrictions they might try to justify it with. You are right. They aren't going to be able to get this by the "stupid people" this time. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't much rather keep this out of the public & national spectrum.

I didn't say I liked what I was hearing. I said I wasn't as worried about it are you. And, for the record, BS-ing isn't lying. To my knowledge, his only public promise to Cedillo et al. is that he will "look at" and "consider." Plenty of wiggle room there.
This may not be Boy Scout stuff (if he is BS-ing), but it isn't lying, either -- and may be more conserving of political capital than a guileless, totally honest approach would. That isn't to say I personally wouldn't prefer the latter, McClintockian approach: "Sorry, but I am against DLs to illegal immigrants under any circumstances, no matter how many security and insurance provisions such a measure may bear. And if one somehow is passed overriding my veto, I assure you that I will take the matter to the people by referendum and overturn it -- although, if it comes to that, I will be seeking recalls of several legislators at the same time."

"That doesn't mean that they wouldn't much rather keep this out of the public & national spectrum."
Arnold had nothing to do with what went on in the legislature, the only reason it was introduced and passes is because we had more than enough signatures to qualify the referendum. They had to stop the referendum or the overwhelming vote for it would have made drivers licences for illegals an untouchable item.

Two angry, clueless little snipes. What a shock.
Enjoy yourself; I'm guessing that's about all you have.

Cool it.

Arnold did get the drivers licences for illegals law repealed, didn't he?
That was the main thing.
Now he is busy getting CA's budget crisis solved.
I think a lot of what he says is being taken out of context by people who are trying to find something to criticize about him. Everything he did is A-OK, so they keep fear mongering, that "wait until he will legitimize illegals, wait until he will raise our taxes, wait until he is going to starve little children" and so on, and so on.

Sure. I get no more gratuitous attacks, I'll need offer no responses.

Arnold did get the drivers licences for illegals law repealed, didn't he? I would say SaveOurLicense and the 375,000+ petition signers had a lot more to do with repealing the law than Arnold did.

Nothing is being taken out of context. The quotes are his & posted for everyone to see.

It's the other way around -- I can be telling YOU, I told you so.
Arnold DID get the drivers licence for illegals law repealed and in two weeks within taking office. Many of you said he wouldn't or couldn't do it, but he DID.
You and other Arnold-haters are the ones who keep spinning, taking his statements out of context, making predictions what he will do in the future. Maybe you can join the Psychic Friends Network or something, if you think you can see the future. The same people also keep saying that Arnold will raise taxes, even though he has a plan to solve the crisis without that and repeatedly said he will NOT raise taxes.
Watch what he DOES. So far in two weeks, he got rid of the car tax and had the drivers licence for illegals law repealed. I would say that's pretty good for two weeks work.

Oh, definitely. Schwarzenegger so far has only surprised me by being further right than I expected (feared). I hold the door open for that on this.
And one of his great strengths is he is a totally-focused, one-thing-at-a-time type guy. I heard him on Hewitt. He was given opportunities to take swings at his critics; passed each one, just returned to his message. That's a strength.

That is totally false.
When Arnold talks about a guest worker visa program, all of a sudden people pretend that he is actually talking about the illegals. There is not much use talking with people who are unable to tell the difference.
To: gubamyster
"....and let's make the undocumented immigrants happy."
And why the hell should we want to make illegal aliens happy??
Schwarzenegger has spent too much time sleeping with the Kennedies. He now thinks like one. Unless his position there helps Bush in 2004, the Country would have been netter off with Gray Davis getting re-elected. He would have totally wrecked the State and the Dems would get the blame.

HE GOT IT REPEALED. That's all I care about now. We'll see what happens in the future. So far, he's done everything he said he'd do, and in record time. Some of you people are just unbelievable in your inability to give this man credit for anything.

How many more times do you have to be reminded that the 375,000 petition signers stopped SB 60?
