Let me get this straight...
A&M has a dismal season on the football field...
Football coach blames conservatism on campus.
I don't see how the coach is helping his cause. If I'm a football player, I'm not going to A&M simply because the coach is a dolt.

>>>>>>>>The Texas A&M football team has just finished a dreadful season, going 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Big 12 conference, including a 77-0 humiliation at the University of Oklahoma. Texas A&M's athletic director, Bill Byrne, has a novel theory as to why his school is suffering athletically. He blames the Young Conservatives of Texas A&M, a student group, which held one of those "affirmative action bake sales":
AD Byrne, you just lost 77-0. Your players had a little more wrong than 1 or 2 teeed off NAACP Pass rushers. If I were socially disadvantaged by about 77-0, perhaps I'd look for a scapegoat or two as well. Afterall, getting your Texas Art and Music a---- whipped on national tv probably has a disparate impact on your recruiting efforts.
Truth to be told, most college athletes are professionals and don't let annoying things like AA Bake Sales pee in their cheerios. If Big 10 competition is beyond the scope of 'The Junction Boys', there are other remedies.
When Oklahoma was gleefully snipping The UT Longhorns, an obviously happy OU drunk, help up a sign stating 'Texas should consider touch football.' It was nice of OU's fan base. It should sensitivity to the obviously disadvantaged that were stinking up the gridiron on an otherwise lovely Saturday afternoon.

Not when RC Slocum was coach.
The school fired their best coach because he had one nominal season, and they hired the new coach and had one embarrassing season.
I'm an Aggie, and this is an embarrassment.
To: PhiKapMom
tackle our player in the backfield that was 10 yards behind the quaterback to not to score and then march around the field beating on their chest after the tackle in the 4th quarter down 77-0!I remembered that, it was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen, I wished OU would have hung 100 on them (and they very easily could have).

Where is the ACLU? Where are the free speechers?
If a big time coach ever even breathed the thought that the team lost because some leftists on campus were protesting Bush about [anything], the leftie wing nuts would be sreaming for a resignation. They'd be screaming about surpression of academic freedom, get rid of the Patriot Act, and sensitivity training for all, especially the new coach.
If this coach is such a jerk than he is not only a lousy football leader, he is a stain on the Aggie colors and should be asked to leave immediately. I plan to write my state legislators and demand significants cut backs in the money we are wasting with this program and that the next coach be slected only after assuring that he'd stand by his results and not go looking for scapegoats!

"University of Oklahoma has one of the most conservative coaches in America -- Bob Stoops and his staff. When invited to the White House after the 2000 National Championship season by Pres Bush, Bob Stoops came right and out said we supported you Mr. President."
I didn't know that. I am grad. of Okla State Univ '73. I guess I will be kinder and gentler to Stoops from now on! Bedlam rivalry you know!
Best of luck in your bowl game!!!!!

This clown should get his head out of his ass and switch off NPR. He really should try a new profession.

I would be embarrassed if I were from Texas A&M. I said it before, A&M was a decent college until it decided to go PC. Now its a cesspool for liberal democrats. Being a cesspool, it is hard to get the good quality football players that are numerous in Texas to go to A&M. Every good program in the country has Texas football players on the roster; just look at Oklahoma.

Talk about being a complete idiot. The team has a lousy season and the coach blames a protest? Oh, A&M is full of B.S. excuses every time they lose a football game. I remember once when my university (UT-Austin) beat them, they said we only won because the bonfire collapsed. Losers. (Might I add that this was a few years before the bonfire collapse tragedy that cost the lives of some young students.)

Did you hear about the aggie on the road going to college? Saw a sign that said Clean Restrooms ahead. By the time he got to campus he had cleaned 86 restrooms. PWA HA HA HA

Is it true that an Aggie diploma doubles as a handicapped parking sticker in Houston? ROFLMAO

Looks like you guys are going to the Cotton Bowl with a Sooner win over K-State. Hope you all go down there and trounce Ole Miss! The planets are aligned really odd though -- Longhorns want us to win also in Kansas City. Roy Williams was really funny when he said he couldn't believe he was wishing for a Sooner win -- they get in the BCS Bowl with our win over K-State.
We have to uphold the Big 12 South being Conference Champions again as well! The North, except for K-State, isn't really that good this year. Looks like Nebraska may be going where the Sooners went after Gibbs, down, down, and down before Bob Stoops came on the scene.
Bob Stoops and his staff are conservative along with our Athletic Director and Kelvin Sampson who spoke to the Cleveland County Republican Club several months ago -- a lot of the players are as well.
